Costco snow brush, what's the handle for?

I guess I'm too thick to figure this out, what's the flip handle for? I think it's new for this year, just don't see how it's useful for either brushing or scraping. In fact I can see it accidentally damage the paint since it's cast aluminum with very rough surface, and sticks up quite a bit.

No, I'm afraid an ottofly will come out if I do.

Lol
Zing!

Does it pivot 90° and lock in place? The only realistic use that I can see is it's a closer grip handle for better leverage.

does it squeeze? looks like it's to telescope the handle.

alternatively, try smashing the brush against the ground repeatedly

It does pivot and sort of stay in place, doesn't lock. I thought about the grip, but anyway I look at it it's awkward to use, better just grab the shaft.

The telescoping button is separate in the hole of the longer half, you can sort of see it on the left pic.

Well I punched out the pin and removed it, if the brush spontaneously combust I will update lol.

It's actually a solidly made part, probably added a dollar to the retail price too.

It's probably just for leverage when you're using the ice scraper. Figure you flip it up and use it as a handle to help push, like a wood shaver tool.

That or as a scope when you're pretending to use your brush like a sniper rifle.

It's a beer opener. Useful to keep warm.

I'd think it would be to use as another grip for when pushing huge amounts of snow from the car.

Is that blue part a functional button, i.e. to make the shaft shorter? If so, I guess it's the grip for the shorter version.
