Yeah, I bought one off the last thread posted on this item.

If anyone is on the fence, tt's a fantastic sharpener. It brought an edge back to my (shamefully) dull knives. Totally worth a hundred bucks.

Got mine last time it was in stock. No regrets. Whetstones might be better and I bought a couple before but the learning curve was a lot and I'm achieving an edge that is just as sharp if not sharper with the 1520 in less time (with my skills). If you are looking for a hobby, get whetstones but if you just want easy sharp knives, get this.

The site says the blades are 17 degrees so which directions should i be following (15 or 20)?

I am in desperate need of a proper sharpener. I almost pulled the trigger the last time they were online, but thought I would add it to the birthmas list.

How does this compare to a proper wet stone? I have no idea what i'm doing but wouldn't mind learning how to sharpen knives properly.

Here's a comparison test. The Chef's Choice model he tried was nothing special; cheaper units do better.
