[Costco] Sony WH-H910N/BDC Wireless Bluetooth Noise-cancelling Headphones [189.99 online /179.99 in store]

Costco has the Sony WH-H910N/BDC Wireless Bluetooth Noise-cancelling Headphones headphones on for 189.99 online or 179.99 in store, regular price is $259.99.
I'm thinking that this might be the cheapest that Costco has sold these at.
These are the little brother of the well regarded WH-1000XM4/B & WH-1000XM3/B series.
I'm not here to claim that these are equivalent to the above but they are certainly a good value for the money.
They sound pretty good to my ears, using the available Sony Android app (they have a iPhone app as well) you can eq them from within the app. I have found that they don't need to be eq'd in the app, flat gives you a nice across the board listening experience.
You can connect with multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time. These headphones are using Bluetooth 5.0 and Iphone users get access to AAC codec and Android devices can use LDAC codec (it auto defaults to LDAC).
I've got a pretty big noggin and have found them to be easy to wear for hours at a time. As well they aren't overly heavy.

So for people who can't justify spending $300+on the latest greatest or who have a limited budget this might be of interest.

I was looking for something that would also work for meetings through teams/zoom. Do they have a decent mic? If any at all?

Yes..Using with teams regularly for 3 months now. Pretty decent mic. Great headphones. A dedicated mute button would have made this perfect!!!

You may want to change the picture.

The WH-H910 have a different look than the WH-1000XM4's which are pictured there.

That ratings link shows it doesn’t support multiple connection.

Can any owners confirm yes or no?

Thanks

Thanks for the link.
I want to point out that the rtings comparison is a little goofy in that 1. They used a Bluetooth 4.2 connection using a SBC codec which would not be the ideal way to connect with /nor obtain the best sound from the 910. Yet they connect to the other unit with Aptx, it's like they were purposely handicapping the 910. I'd like to see a new comparison using ldac to ldac or ldac on the 910 versus Aptx on the 1000 to get a more accurate /fair comparison.
2. They state further on that the 910 can only connect to one device at a time. This is categorically wrong. It most definitely can make multiple connections with the latest software. As well the online instructions (Sony website) document this as well.

Yea I'm not sure what the reviewer was thinking. But it does give a good comprehensive review for everything else. I just wonder why the pricier model has a muffled sound when speaking as opposed to the cheaper one where it's crystal clear.

No aptx if I read correctly? LDAC support pretty wide? (Tv sound system, Bluetooth transmitters)

I have these. No idea why I'm reviewing them here, guess I needed a distraction...

Summary: I think they are a good value at this price if you are using them mostly for music/media. I'm using them mostly for music/media and strictly connected to one device. They are not great as a headset, I spent 4-5 hours a day on calls and I swap to a dedicated headset with boom mic, but they are fine for infrequent short calls on my phone.

Pros
- excellent for music / media
- comfortable for long sessions
- great battery life

Cons
- headset/call mode is awful (used for phone calls and with most collab. software like Teams, Skype, etc.)
- connecting multiple devices is not supported well
- some windows bluetooth chipset drivers will drop connection after 5 minutes

Sound: I'm not an audiophile, but I am an amateur musician and appreciate detailed and neutral sounding headphones. These are fairly neutral, and relatively detailed in a good way. You can EQ it effectively using the app. From a SQ perspective, if you like analytical listening these are actually decent in my opinion. They don't match my etymotic er4sr for detail and they can't touch my grado sr60s for staging but they are great for general purpose listening + ANC (ie music while I work or do stuff around the house). There is a thread on head-fi about these, and several people have agreed that these actually sound BETTER than the flagship Sony headphones for music.

Calls: Terrible. It pipes in a ton of ambient sound/noise, and it's overpowering and there's now way to adjust the levels. Tapping my fingers on my desk sounds like someone is banging the headphone case, it's ridiculous. They also don't play nicely with certain bluetooth chipsets - connection drops after 5 minutes or so. This is a windows driver issue from what I can see. For these reasons, plus not working well with multiple devices I don't use them for work calls. It's fine for random personal calls, but this is infrequent for me.

ANC: I can't compare to their competitors here, but it does a great job of reducing ambient fan noises and such (furnace, laptop fan etc.). I understand it's probably not quite up to spec with the flagship Bose/Sony/etc. but it's good enough for my home office purposes.

Ergonomics: Comfy, even for long periods. Keeps my ears warm wearing them outside. Seem to be quite well made.

Battery: 35 hours, seems accurate. Good enough for me, I charge 2-3 times per week.

Multiple Devices: When I got them a few months ago, this wasn't supported at all (hence the RTINGS review). They may have enabled it recently via firmware updates, based on the specs shown in this thread, plus some weird behavior i've started noticing: I have a computer in a separate room that I game with that occasionally hijacks my phone's connection to the headphones. This other computer connects in 'headset' mode, which is annoying. I don't know why / how, and I can't force my computer and phone to connect simultaneously. It's weird.

Codecs: My phone says it's using SBC. I can't seem seem to make it change to LDAC or any other codec. Not sure what's up there. Sounds fine to me as is, haven't really bothered messing with it.

Other:
- Having tried the assistant features.
- The voice that tells you your battery level is very pleasing.
- There's an ambient sound mode that shuts off noise cancelling and pipes in a small amount of surrounding noise for situation awareness. Works well, and I'm not sure why this isn't the mode used for calls.

I'll wait til these hit $150 before sniffing them.

If these are as comfortable as the predecessor H900N, then i'll happily buy them.

How do these compare to Bose QC II specifically in terms of comfort and call quality for office use (conference calls, Skype, Teams..)?
Thanks in advance!

would like to know this too. H910n mic doesn't seem good with noise and crackles.

I strongly dislike these for calls, Teams, Skype, etc., reasons explained in my post above. Mainly it's the way the headphones pipe in external sounds at a high volume, presumably so you can hear your own voice, but it makes everything movement you make and every sound in your environment seem very intense and up close. No way to turn it down. I don't know why it can't just use the 'ambient sound' mode for calls, which would be a good mix. I can't compare to the Bose, however.

I don't have any issues with noise and crackles though, where did you hear that?

It was a youtube review that had a mic test.

Sounds pretty crackly here:

A bit muffled here:

Sounds okay in this one:

Crackly

Maybe one could get an in-line mic to use in wired mode?
