[Costco] Strip Loin Steaks - $23.49/kg (was $40-$45/kg CHEAPER THAN PRE-COVID) YMMV

THIS IS CHEAPER THAN PRE COVID
I will provide some facts so you won't delete my thread because I hate posting everything agian. too time consuming.

This is an awesome deal since it was still $35/kg a week ago. and around $45-$50/kg in the last 2 months.

Just in time for some backyard BBQ. You can choose the strip lion or strip loin prime (blue foam).

Prime tastes better but a bit more expensive.

Meat prices are slowly decreasing but restaurant prices are increasing.

Sept - Oct 2019 =
Strip loin = $29.39
Strip loin Prime = $45.99

July 26 =
Strip loin = $23.49

Just in time for some BBQ! Finally, I can taste some delicious steaks without breaking my wallet. I tried T&T last time and it was way too rough and chewy.
Costco steaks are delicious.

What is your secret recipe when you cook a steak?

add sparkling water and wait 10 mins
wipe it dry
add some steak seasonings
bring it to room temperature
preheat the pan
add oil
turn to medium-high heat (5-6)
sear it for 3 mins on each side 2 times.
let it rest for 5 mins.
and enjoy it.

Bone in strip loins are $6.88/lb for optimum members at Loblaws this week. Tried some and they are pretty damn good actually.

I seriously don't know what is wrong with that admin/mod. Moved it to expired deal within 36 minutes when it is still ongoing.

I even provided facts and pictures. Am I doing something wrong?

These are usually nationwide since they are regular price and not discounted or clearance price.

Will it taste better if I cook it with my Lodge cast iron? I do have one from the amazon promotion. Haven't used it yet

BBQ is the way to go for steak imo

But that being said the best chefs pan sear and then bake steaks to perfection so that’s a thing too

Btw thanks for all the posts!

Get your pan hot on medium high, and turn on you range hood to max (and maybe open a window). This is going to smoke a lot.

With your steak prepared the way you want (I use Montreal steak spice) drop a dollop of butter in the pan. After it browns after a couple of seconds add the steak, and sear both sides (time depending on how you like it done and thickness). You can also quick sear and finish in the oven (good for thick steaks).
