[Costco] Surface Laptop Go 12.4" 3:2 touchscreen, i5-1035G1, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 2.4 lb, Microsoft 365 1-year - $799.99 (Expired)

Looks like a good deal for the 256 GB model at $799.99 with extended Costco warranty. It's a Member Only Item, so you have to log in to see the price. This is the Ice Blue colour and you can choose the English or French model. For comparison, Microsoft and Best Buy are currently having a sale on the 128 GB model for $859.99

Edit: The price now shows $999.99, so it may have been a price error

Reviews were not great on this one last year from what I remember.
Windows 10S mode (although you can change to full windows), generally slow, small screen.
On the plus side, it does include Microsoft 365 one year

Bought one, then returned it. The two issues for me was the low resolution screen and the lack of backlit keyboard. Even like $200 chromebooks have backlit keyboards and a FHD display. Not sure what Microsoft was thinking here.

No backlit kb, but at least it's not bilingual.

At this price backlit is a requirement for me, hopefully Gen 2 will add it.

Reviews were not great because Microsoft sabotages their own products, and this started with 4GB/i3/64GB combo. It deserved bad reviews for such shitty configuration.

But one in question in OP is not bad, It's a beautiful lightweight laptop with a very productive display ratio. It looks modern, and very pleasant in home environment.

I think the screen's resolution is okay since this is only a 12.4 inch display. The pixel density on this laptop is 148 PPI, which is slightly higher than the 141 PPI on a FHD 15.6 inch laptop with 1920x1080 resolution.

If you don't need the touchscreen, and don't need Windows, the MacBook Air M1 (student discount) for an extra $150 is the better choice.

MacBook Air is more than $150. It's $350+.

$1169 (student discount) - $219 (airpods, see the apple back-to-school thread, people have been able to get the airpods refunded) = $950

That's not exactly a legit transaction.

Lol. Apple refunds the Airpods, the money goes back into the account. I don't see how it's not "legit". Many of the deals on this site have been way less "legit".

Even if it isn't "legit", I don't see why that matters. It's still a method currently available to get the laptop for $950. And, at $950, I think the MB Air is a much better buy than this Surface.

If you want to go ahead and spend extra money (or choose to get the Surface) because you feel bad for one of the richest companies in the world, that's your perogative.

It's not legit in the sense that the refund is not guaranteed.

That's sort of what I'm thinking. I remember seeing the blue colour being the only one selling for $799 while the other colours were more expensive.

Yeah, thinking back now I remember seeing the website say $200 off but the price was actually $400 off.
