[Costco] TCL 55R613CA 4K TV $719.99

Spotted at the Thorncliffe Costco

TCL 55” 6 series 4K TV

Slightly different model number here compared to amazon and bestbuy, but might be of interest to those who prefer the Costco Warranty.

There are 15 units at the time of posting.

Be aware TCL TV outside China is not real TCL manufactured. Just some OEM with TCL stickers

I don't think Canada ever got the 75" model.

sadly TCL doesn’t sell the 75 inch 6 series in Canada. quite the tragedy if you ask me as that’s the model I’d be interested in.

Honest question, is that a better or worse thing? People often praise the 6 series here for its value. So those oem manufacturers are doing a very good job already.

I was about the ask the same question. For example, Philips TV's in USA are manufactured by Funai. Who is the OEM for TCL?

Took a long time for Costco to get them. I would have got one in Feb or April if they were available at Costco. Too late now.

Damn I currently have the HiSense 65R617 and I have until June 14th for the 90 days returns...

Seems this one is way better than what I have..

If they have the 65 inch I might return and get this one.

Dice Roll.

The higher model R617 is reviewed by the RTings below:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/6 ... -r617-2018

As a TV it MAY compare well against NU7100 at 55", but watch for consistency or quality issues. You may get a good exercise exchanging this unit... although someone claims Costco will do home pickup for return, not sure about that.

Where did you hear that?

Keep in mind this is a quote from TCL North America:

"We make our own plastic. We mold our own cabinets. We make our boards."

Picked one up today. Been watch it for a few hours now, and really, what a piece of... spectacular! We love it so far.
Big upgrade from our previous 40". Big 55" UHD Roku at a very attractive price. 4K HDR content is great with unbelievable colours, and whites are white, darks are dark; speakers are loud and bassy. Really, for this price, best bang for my hard earned buck...

I believe that the R613 and R617 are identical. I think the R615 has the more basic IR, non voice, remote but is otherwise the same.
I would give my life to protect your right to say something really funking stupid.

This is a far better TV than the NU7100, as long as you get a quality unit. The QC is worse with TCL but if you get a good unit you're far ahead of an NU7100. Add the Costco warranty and you're set until 8K. Compare the rtings.com HDR review for the two.

NU7100:
HDR Peak Brightness: 5.8/10 rating
HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness: 261 cd/m²

Disappointing HDR peak brightness. It is fairly consistent across all input windows. Small highlights in dark scenes are dimmed by the TV's algorithms, as shown by our 2% window test. Like with SDR, the HDR performance is worse than last year's Samsung lineup. Similar performance to the budget-level LG UK6300.

TCL 6 Series
HDR Peak Brightness: 8.7/10 rating
HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness: 840 cd/m²

The TCL R617/615 has great HDR peak brightness. Bright highlights in HDR content will be shown fairly bright, very close to the level of 1000-4000 cd/m² they're intended to be.
You're comparing almost non-existent HDR, to excellent HDR.

Until someone mentioned it, I did not know that the R613 and the R617/R615 were comparable panels. In light of that, I have no disagreement.
