The new 6 series is adding mini LED and will be hard to compare to the H8G as it it will have hundreds of local dimming zones. Specifically, the 75 inch TCL 6 series 2020 will have upwards of 1000 dimming zones, to put it into perspective. This will most likely fix any panel uniformity issues that has been bugging the 6 series for the last couple of years.
Cool, good to know new 6 series is going with mini LED ... also eager to see how 2020 5 series compares to H8G

yeah but the question is do I REALLY need a TV THAT bright? I think unless I have direct sunlight aiming at my TV for a lot of my viewing time, I'd take uniformity and better motion over it.

My complaint with my LG TV right now is I see a lot of dirty screen noises and poor motion smoothness when I watch hockey. And the brighter I turn up the brightness setting, the more obvious the DSN is on the white ice surface, and therefore I am reluctant to turn up the brightness beyond 70% on my TV ...

Well the TCL 6 series isn't the best TV of all time, but it is an excellent TV for the price that does a more than decent job. I really don't have any complaints.

In any case, if the 65" Series 6 for 2020 model is listed as $1299, that's comparatively more expensive than the Hisense H8G/Q8G, which is being sold at under $1000 ($989 at Visions.ca, and H7G at similar price at Costco)
The link was up this morning at time of posting and someone reported (on page 18) that both the 65" and 55" R635 pages have since been taken down. Naturally, as a noob, I did not save the pages.

This TV is in stock as well as 65" at bestbuy.

Any reason why not to get from there?

Just noticed that TV Outlet (through Best Buy) is selling a refurb 55" 2019 TCL 6 Series (55R625) for $720. Pretty good price considering this TV was never sold in Canada, and is extremely well reviewed (often called the "best in class" for budget TVs).

https://www.tvoutlet.ca/collections/tel ... ies-55r625 - $640 if you're in Vancouver

The 2019 is rated 7.8 on rtings.com vs. the 2018 at a 7.7.

I've been waiting for it to come back to Costco, does anyone have any expectations or info on this? The 2018 model (New) is $600 at bestbuy - but I've been holding out for Costco warranty.

I would never buy a refurb tv but that's just me. Especially when the price/value difference isn't that great

Bestbuy has the 2020 TCL 5 series 65” in stock now for $799:

TCL 65 5 series

Edit: in stock maybe over stating it. Available for purchase and later ship maybe more accurate.

Quite the wait! haha
No kidding man. Not sure what’s the deal with TCL sleeping on the release dates. TCL will be roku anywho and Hisense 2020 models are out now with android tv so I think I’ll just grab a 55Q7G from Costco....roku tv just lacks apps and is smooth but pretty bare bones.

Shows September for me in E1G. Still a long wait, but months ahead of yours for some reason. Odd.

65" 5-series with Quantum dots for $799 is pretty good deal compared to the Hisense H7G/H8G

Yeah well it’s also roku instead of android. H7G also has quantum dot technology......whatever that is. Anyways if TCL would come with android tv I’d grab it but it doesn’t so. Yeah.

Some ppl prefer Roku over Android TV ... but whatever your preference, don't let that sway your decision cause you can always buy a Roku stick or Android TV box instead.

I know I keep hearing that same point but I’d rather keep it native to the tvOS. Don’t want to need to buy an external device to use over top of the OS.

I appreciate this thread, i'm in the same boat as a lot of you! Hisense, Vizio, TCL...

Bestbuy has a refurb 6 series TCL for $719. Available online only. Any thoughts? Wait for Costco to have it again?
