Skip this thing. It'll struggle even with small cars. You'll try to start, it'll turn off, then you gotta power cycle, and then it's drained.

Better skip right to the big boy from anywhere. Costco sells one branded with cat and it's worked even on a super dead two weeks at -20c battery.

For some reason every time I see this brand I think of the 90's with ppl putting Type R badges on their Honda Civics.

I would echo the concerns with this unit, the one time I had to use it, it failed to work for me. It would start to beep and complain about “Battery Protection” and then ultimately require me to restart it. It never ended up working for me and I resorted to using regular old jumper cables to get the car started again.

It's worth noting that all battery packs are going to work better when they're warm. If you keep this in your car and your car falls to start at -20C you're going to have a bad time. If it's kept in your house then it is much more likely to work.
This is due to battery chemistry and affects all batteries but it's something to be weary of with jump starters since the time you most often need them is the time they're least likely to work. A much larger battery will handle this issue better but it's still best to keep them somewhere warm

Started a Toyota RAV4 with a dead battery in -10C. Jumper pack was not left in car of course so it was already warm. Started easy and according to readout took about 8% of the charge.

Got mine on clearance for 30-40$ last year, would buy another.

I keep mine in my dirtbike pack in case of battery failure and have used it a few times during one ride when I had a dead battery.

This means this unit can only work at home or warm weather! I will pass. Thanks.

Thanks Op, been waiting for this to go on sale, hopefully my warehouse has it.

For those in doubt, check the reviews on Costco.com. If you are the type of person to overestimate the probability of an unlikely event (ie. not working) just get two and you’re still cheaper than buying an expensive model.

Jump started this winter a Ford Explorer a couple of times and a Hyundai Sonata also without any problems. Each time it used only 5% of the battery charge. Very good and solid unit! I recommend!

Sorry, but your statement/logic is not completely true, the meaning as was stated that the battery packs work better when they are warm.
I’ve used battery packs jumpers, in both cold weather and not at home. I have last years version of this type s and an Amazon version.

However other posts people have stated varying success with this particular unit.

I have this unit. It has saved me several times. I can vouch for poorer performance in extreme cold, however I changed my behaviour to bring it inside with me. No issues after that. This clearance price is totally worth it.

Is this comparable to the Gooloo jump starter from Walmart at 1/2 the price?
