[Costco] Vaughan: Panasonic Massage Chair EP-MAG3 $4999.99

Just dropped by Costco Vaughan and saw that they are selling the EP-MAG3 for $5K (until this Sunday). There was a similar posting about this for the Calgary store and reviews seem great. Wife tried it and really liked it but I still need to do a bit more research before we invest this much money into a product. Not sure if I should have posted this in the Hot Deals thread or a discussion thread. Admins, please move accordingly.

It's advertised as almost 50% off which I think is a marketing gimmick as the EP-MA73 is listed for almost $9,249.99 on the panasonic website under EP-MA73. The salesperson pointed me towards the MA73 website price since both MA73 and MAG3 share the same user manual but I have no idea what the difference is.

https://www.panasonic.com/ca/consumer/m ... ma73k.html

The MA73 goes for $8K and the MAG3 goes for $6.5K on relaxcare.ca so this costco deal is really only $1,500 off.

Anyone knows how this compares to the Osim massage chairs in similar price ranges?

Maybe there are people that really are glad they bought something like this, but it really seems like an expensive lesson.

definitely a luxury but it seems these can last 10+ years and if used enough, it might be worthwhile.

You know what I find relaxing at the end of a long day? The knowledge that there are 5000 more dollars in my bank account than there would be if my chair was moving.

We tried a Costco $3000 massage chair for a few months.

TPR WESTINGHOUSE MASSAGE Item# 2421720
https://www.costco.ca/westinghouse-wes4 ... 73235.html
(It was onsale for $3000, now it's $3,799.99)

1 - It was NOT as good as professional massage chairs found in Japan (Not the cheap coin operated ones in the malls of Canada)
- It lost its pressure in the legs and arms over time (I guess they use some sort of balloons that inflates/deflates to "Squeeze" you)
- It starting "Skipping" gears as it went up and down my back and made a really loud cracking noise when it did

2 - This chair was NOT usable as a lazy boy. When you sit in the chair without the massage features, it's SUPER Uncomfortable

3 - There was an annoying Blue Led light that did Not turn off.

4 - The pressure was OK but not great. I think my $100 "Chair massage Seat from HomeSense was almost as good. (It didn't do the arms and legs but it's great for the back)

Looks like:

I'm so glad we bought it from Costco or else we wouldn't have been able to return it.

I was curious which model they would be selling at the Costco road show. The MA73 used to sell for $6K+tax at CNE with delivery. Never tried this model though.

Massage chair isn't for everyone, not sure why people feel the need to justify they decision not to buy one every time it comes up. I personally like them and I enjoy sitting on them every night to wind down. Panasonic is probably the most reliable brand with good service coverage, if you need it. My family has one that's been running daily for 15+ years with no issue except for one roller replacement under warranty early on.

Only suggestion is try the chair and see how it feels. I personally find Panasonic a bit weak, so I bought an Osim instead.

I've mentioned this before - but if you are in the GTA (which you are since you went to the Vaughan Costco) , I HIGHLY recommend you go to the Relaxacare Showroom (In Burlington - 4280 HARVESTER RD UNIT 9). They have about 30 chairs on the floor that you can test out, so you can compare different chairs and different features, in the same price range.

Not that I'm all in on getting a massage chair or anything, but you can say that about any number of luxury items - different strokes for different folks...

Osim has a store in Markville where you could go try out their chairs.
