[Costco] Vitamix Venturist 1200 $399 Costco Roadshow (Select stores only)

There's another thread about the Vitamix Explorian E320 + 2 Personal Cups + Adapter for $380. Great deal, but there's another good deal going on with the Vitamix roadshow at select Costcos.

Thread with the E320 deal: costco-vitamix-explorian-e320-personal- ... #p34672927

They are offering the Venturist 1200 (essentially, a Costco-specific model that is actually a cross between Ascent 2300 and 3300 - it is definitely part of the Ascent line as per Vitamix). It comes in at $399 for just a machine, but without the 2 personal cups included in the Costco E320 package. You can add a personal cup + small bowl + adapter for $140, and once you have the adapter, additional cups or 2-pack small bowls are $30 on the Vitamix website.

For comparison, regular price for an Ascent 2300 is $599 for the machine only.

Explorian E320 vs Venturist 1200:
- 7 yrs vs 10 yrs warranty
- Regular containers vs Smart containers (the rep showed me how smart containers are safer -- good for people with kids who are starting to use it)
- Larger adapter for personal cups vs much smaller adapter that is easier to prevent leaks with (good for storage)
- Manual controls for time and speed vs ability to use the bluetooth-enabled app to have the machine set the appropriate time and adjust speed as needed during the relevant blend cycle (it works, but the app looks like it was from 2010).
- No on-unit timer vs on-unit timer (no need to set phone timer or other smart device).

All in all, for my family, I decided the extra safety features and ability to set the program and walk away was worth the extra $140 (I paid the $20 extra for base machine, plus $120 for the adapter + personal cup + bowl, so $520 vs $380).

that list is only for July, so maybe they would move around a bit for August? the list had a wider date range previously.

I have the Vitamix Explorian and depending on what your processing, the unit can start vibrating enough that it starts to walk across the counter.
I think it's better to just stand there and keep an eye on it. Regardless of the temptation.

I just don't want to hear that someone lost a finger as they tried to grab Vitamix as it fell off of the counter or was swinging by the power cord.

my understanding is the Venturist is a slighly different base than the explorian, so ideally would be less of an issue in this case (that said I typically stand by my blender - not once have I actually walked away!)

I got the E320 two weeks ago but I was already on the fence about waiting for an Ascent. Now I guess I'll go to the Boucherville store to make the swap

I did notice the machine shakes a bit when initially blending big chunks. But once it gets through them, it settled down. All the same, especially for less experience users (or kids), having the blender manage the ramp-up from lower speed to higher speed, and then back down at the end, is helpful even if standing right by the blender. But that app - oof - definitely sub-par for the brand positioning.

I just did a quick scan, and the Explorian, Ascent and Venturist all seems to be in the 11.5 - 12 lbs range.

you're absolutely right, they are roughly same weight, but moreso about the design of the base that makes it a bit more stable / positioning of the motor within the base. things like that. but like other poster said, in any case careful during the big chunks until it starts to smooth out, then ramp the speed and should be about the same on any of them.

I wonder if its doable to replace the 8oz for a 20oz in that addon? On their website that package is same price as the 20oz and 8oz bundle.

You don’t have to buy the cup + bowl + adapter package if it’s not right for you, but that’s the accessory they made available in store. I think there are other starter packages on the website with the adapter and (maybe 2?) personal cups. Trick is once you have the adapter, the cups and bowls are relatively inexpensive.

About two months ago, The Home Shopping (TSC) Channel had the Vitamix Ascent 2300 set, as a Today’s Show Stopper. Included pretty much every accessory (including the wet and dry containers and travel cups). It was $599 plus free shipping. Surprisingly, Rakuten had 10% off as well for one day, so it made the deal decent. I got the $60 Rakuten cash back.

My wife loves the A2300.

However the Costco deal with $100 or $200 coupon makes the Costco deal a very hot deal!

As for the Vitamix warranty, I had bought a Costco Vitamix C6500 machine back in 2016, which has a 7 year coverage. Just two months ago, there was an issue with the setting when it went to the 10 speed, where it just shut down. I called the Vitamix 1-800 customer service line, they listened to my situation, they paid for return shipping, shipped it back to me in about three weeks, where they fixed everything up with a brand new container! They provide a checklist as to what was repaired, and it looked brand new!!!!

It was my same machine as the serial number was still the exact same.

I have to hand to them, the Vitamix customer service is top notch!

Thanks OP. I picked up the Venturist today. I was going to get the E320, but my old Oster Versa blender had a smoothie setting, which was incredibly handy so I opted for the Venturist - just so that I could get the presets on the app. The ten year warranty was also a selling feature as I have had a lot of cheaper blenders die on me after a few years of daily use.

By the way, the personal cup + small bowl + adapter starter kit was $120 - not $140. It's a $60 savings compared to what it sells for on the Vitamix website: https://www.vitamix.com/ca/en_us/shop/b ... it&sc=site. It seemed like a good deal so I picked that up too. If it turns out that I don't need it, there shouldn't be a problem returning it.

How’s your experience so far? My parents got the e320 because they don’t want to be bothered with apps. I am still on the fence on which to go with. The timer would be useful I think. But is it worth $100 delta is the questions.
