Ya, I passed on the $70 per kg price... and even @ $40 per kg I think it's still too pricey.

-- You're paying for the weight of the huge bone that you can't eat. LOL

Paying for a lot of bone. Wonder how much meat you net out of each KG.

Yeah I was never a fan of tomahawks for that reason. It definitely looks cool but I'm here to pay for the meat not the bone!
If it's free it's for me!

Saw these "Waygu" at the Elgin location.

Looked pretty much the same as most grocery stores in terms of marbling. That being said, it seems if you get lucky you can find some very good peices. So really take the time and go through them.

Pass on the tomahawks, unless you are really trying to impress people by serving a "cool" looking steak

Tried this last month.

Incredible texture and flavour.
High temp sear on bbq, finished off in the oven at a lower temperature.
Came out amazing.

Due to the fat marbling, you don’t need to eat that much to be satisfied.
If you are use to having a 1 lb steak, aim for half of that weight per person with the Wagyu.

Amazing meat, but its a treat, not a regular meal.

Was there any other "wagyu" besides Tomahawk?

And the meat next to the bone tastes the best IMO. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in as to why.

Probably the same reason why bone-in chicken always tastes better than boneless chicken.

Also purchased last month and totally agree. It was very delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. At this price it's a steal!

Does anyone know if there's any at the Markham or Markham East locations?

Need to get one! Is this special only at Thorncliff? And when does it end?

I visited other stores over the weekend and they were offering $15 off each package (about 2kg each), which is still a decent discount but nothing compared to this.

Ok guys, thanks for your opinions.

I’ve had one so far this season and at this price I’ll stock up. Thanks OP

Never tried Wagyu, but the boneless "simmering short rib" cut at Costco is fantastic.
