[Costco] Waterpik Water Flosser Combo Pack ~ $79.99~

Looks like this is regular price at Costco but I think it is a solid deal which comes with TWO waterpiks plus accessories for only $79.99. May not be the newest machine but looks good to start with.

You do not need to be a member to order this from Costco.ca

Comes with:
WP130C Waterpik® Ultra- the ultimate in performance, WP305C Waterpik® Nano™, Water Flosser tips included

Walmart has the older model of WP130C for $80 alone: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/waterpik-w ... 0016951232
Amazon historically has this combo for $100 cheapest: https://www.amazon.ca/Waterpik-Flosser- ... s=waterpik

From my understanding, nothing will beat normal flossing, however, if you don't floss at all, these are better than nothing. My teeth are very close together so this is why I have decided to do waterflossing.

I shelved my corded waterpik after buying the above.

1. No reservoir to refill
2. No noisy motor to listen to.
3. Doesn't have to be plugged into the wall, you can use it on a faucet that's not near a electrical outlet.
4. Doesn't take up counter space.
5. Super small to stow away, the whole thing fits in your typical small ziploc sandwich bag. All of the above are smaller than both the cordless and corded waterpik. I leave mine on all the time on the faucet as I use it more than twice a day.
6. And yeah, they are a lot less expensive with a lot less moving parts.

Overall, the products above are FAR superior compared to the waterpik concept.

But doesn't the flow and therefore pressure of the floss depends on the pressure and flow of tap water. So they might not be as effective as the motor one.
0 tolerance for BS.
If I downvote, chances are it's less about the deal, and more about OP's inability to take criticism and constantly favoring their deal due to their ego.

Any thoughts on this Costco version vs the travel one that was on sale on amazon recently?

And likewise the American Dental Association does not recommend flossing at all.

You pay your money, you take your chance... personally I find these to be useful as an easy flossing solution which I can adhere to.

I'd say my gum health improves with this, I'd say it's worth $70 of your money... but honestly, I couldn't say it'll be like changing for you.

I believe the warehouses have the newer kit now, was tempted to buy a new one as I am working with my travel one as the tube cracked on my main unit after four years of use. I find I get good results.

Actually, that was the US government which removed flossing from the 2015 Dietary Guidelines. The ADA still recommends it.

Which one did you buy exactly? And what is your review of it so far? Pros? Cons?

I used to never floss. I then used a waterpik and there was an improvement to my gums. My waterpik broke and then I decided to transitioned to flossing and my gums improved even more.

Every case may be different but for me I found that flossing > waterpik > just brushing

The China ones requires you to unscrew it so it's best left on the tap.

The flow is enough to cut your gum and make it bleed, more than plenty.

The 1 to 6 on my previous post is the pros. The cons.... it's "ugly" to some people.

I have two, one for each bathroom. Both of the product below is what I bought, and they have reviews. You can read them. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't waste money on the waterpik, I would just buy two of the China ones with the metal lever from aliexpress.. I can fit both of these faucet type irrigators into the reservoir space of my dis-used waterpik, that's how compact they are.

I would stay away from that model at all cost, it's so freaking loud compared to the Costco one.
I appreciate the help. I'll certainly buy those instead.

Waterpik has clinical evidence that it is more effective than regular floss. However I'd recommend to use both for best results. Floss shines in some areas and Waterpik in others.

Maybe you misunderstood your hygienist or your hygienist misunderstood you. I see no reason not to recommend Waterpik, its a great tool that really has no downsides. Only time you would avoid one is if you are healing from recent oral surgery, but then you wouldn’t floss there either. Just don't think of it as replacement for floss, rather a floss supplement. Of course, for people that don't floss at all at least using the Waterpik is a huge improvement over doing nothing.

Here are the clinical studies:

https://www.waterpik.com/oral-health/pr ... rnes-2005/

Results
At 4 weeks, the addition of a Water Flosser resulted in significantly better oral health, regardless of toothbrush type used over manual brushing and flossing. Adding the Waterpik® Water Flosser was up to 93% better in reducing bleeding and up 52% better at reducing gingivitis than traditional dental floss.

https://www.waterpik.com/oral-health/pr ... sema-2011/

Results
After 14 days, used in conjunction with manual toothbrushing, the Waterpik® Water Flosser with the Classic Jet Tip was twice as effective as traditional floss at reducing gingival bleeding. At 30 days, the relative improvement in gingival bleeding for the Water Flosser groups was even more dramatic. There were no significant differences between the Water Flosser Classic Jet Tip and the Plaque Seeker® Tip.

https://www.waterpik.com/oral-health/pr ... oval-2013/

Results
The Waterpik® Water Flosser was 29% more effective than string floss for overall plaque removal, 29% for approximal surfaces, and 33% for marginal surfaces

Just a heads up if you have exposed roots (as I do), that waterpik makes my teeth sensitive due to the temperature of the water, even room temperature. I find flossing does not irritate but this does. So I don't use it very often. I do like the way it feels where I don't have exposed roots tho!
