Looks nice. Can a BBQ expert tell me what makes a BBQ $1000 vs one that's $300?

Really tempting... just rather annoying they can't at least put a cheap enclosure/door at the bottom...

More than likely. If you have to fold the rear seats down or not will depend on the SUV though.

How long it lasts, how sturdy it is, how evenly it cooks, features like a separate burner or a searing burner.

A lot is reputation. Weber and Napoleon have great warranties.

I think a lot of people, myself included, spend more money than we need to. But we like our toys.

Oh I'm absolutely with you when it comes to spending a bit more for a high quality product. I'm just trying to find a good natural gas BBQ to replace my old propane one since the new house has a gas hookup. Thing is my old propane BBQ has more burners (4 + side) and came with a cabinet (and extra set of doors for some reason??). The more expensive ones are probably much higher quality and a better cooking experience I imagine.

My phone plan is $400 a month for 500 MB of data.
My internet plan is $199.99 for capped internet and slow speeds.
My credit cards are the ones with annual fees but terrible rewards.
Did I RFD correctly?

If you BBQ a lot, its worth the extra money.
Lots of cheap grills last 2-3-4-5 years, than tossed. They are made with cheap materials and made to break. If you BBQ infrequently its fine, but if you are on the grill a lot spend the extra money.
My parents Weber is 13/14 years old and is still a Champ. They use it 3-4 times a week from Labour day to Thanksgiving, and here n there in the winter.
Other important factors, if something does go wrong, parts are easy to find. Heat is steady. Materials are higher end.

Not everyone should get a Weber, or Nepolian. But at Minimum you should be looking at Sterling or Broil Mate

If you are going to BBQ a lot, and want it to last, really you should be looking at Weber, Broil King and Napolian

Looks like my RFD account was recently hacked. I do not sell anything on RFD especially GC's.

My 22+ year old Weber Genesis 1100 is still going strong. Only replaced the flavourizer bars once and ignitor about 4 times. Love this propane BBQ that I just had the Canadian BBQ Boys come and clean it thoroughly. Now looking for a NG one like this one thats on clearance but I would like the searing function too which is the E-435 model not sold at Costco.

Just grabbed the last one in Oshawa. Thanks OP!

Edit: I got the last NG. There was one more LP in box, and a floor model (not sure if LP or NG). BTW, the NG model is actually $270 off ($1200 -> $930).

Not an "expert" necessarily but used to sell and assemble BBQs - it's often a question of build quality and design, so not necessarily stuff that is super obvious, but will speak to the usage and longevity of the product.

Simple examples would be the quality and thickness of the materials used to build the bbq which contributes to how well the grill holds heat and resists rust/damage, or how sturdy the side panels will be in terms of bending or holding heavier weights.
