for computers to 6 months with the balance of the manufacture warranty being dealt directly with the manufacture. it use to be a full-year return policy, too many people abused it.

Computers have only had a 6 month return policy for like the past couple years. The rest of the electronics though (like TV's)...those may also be reduced down to 6 months...but time will tell *exactly* what the new return policy will allow and within what time frame.

the costco return policy has *always* been 1-year no questions asked on everything. however, i work for costco and have seen the new policies soon to be put into effect and one of them will be the computer return policy.

the 6 month policy on laptops has existed for quite awhile already (years)...as some have already mentioned here.

"Used to be" must've been 3+ years ago, I remember buying my old laptop from Costco and it was 6 months to return, I remember it correctly. Even if you walk into any Costco you'll see a large sign with a picture of a desktop and notebook stating this policy loud and clear. How long have you been working for Costco?

My friend actually said that they're gonna bring Concierge Service from the US to Canada meaning that they're actually reducing the return policy to 90 day, but will add another year to the original Manufacturing Warranty. So for products with 1 year warranty, you get 2 years and 90day return policy. Their argument is so that people can call this toll-free line for support, hence reducing the return rate (well, lol, kinda) and also the extra year of Manufacturing Warranty is actually added value to the product, cuz we all know how much that extra year cost in places like Futureshop and Best Buy....

Hi Everyone,

Here are the REAL facts:
-The Costco computer return policy (with the exception of Alberta) has been 6 months since November 4th, 2002.
-The return policy changes are being tested in Alberta currently. It is now a 90-Day return policy on computers / televisions / MP3 Players / Cell Phones / cameras / camcorders. This came into effect January 7th.
-The warranty on laptops is 2 Years in *all* provinces currently.
-The warranty on Desktop computers is typically 2-Years on the tower and 1-year on the monitor. I don't know specifically if the change to the return policy will extend the monitor to 2-years.
-The warranty on almost all of the tvs is 1 Year. This will change to 2 years on all tvs purchased *after the return policy changes in the rest of the country.
-In addition to the previous two points, there will be a concierge toll-free service available to members that have purchased items after the return policy changes.

That's all I can tell you at this point. If you have any other questions, you will have to ask someone in a store location.

excellent info GYR8,

I'll also comment that I recently returned a defective camera and was told that since I bought it prior to the date they changed the return policy, the old policy was in effect for me, otherwise the camera would not have been covered.
