You lost me by putting the entire thread title in upper case…

That said, not being one of those carmudgeonly downvoters, I’ll just move along.

... I'll just move along and write a post to say it.

Now I am putting my phone away.

Guys, these are not the Pro versions, it's the gourmet set. The pro version is on sale for $650 on the Zwilling site ($933 MSRP).

Upvoted OP, pretty good deal for a nice set. Personally, I'm not sold on the self sharpening feature though.

I have this set and they are all made from Spain except the Scissor was made in Germany, I bought it for under $200.

So just because it's made in Germany doesn't mean that it's better. Audi Q5 is made in Mexico and most people think it's made in Germany. Volvo XC-60 was made in China and you wouldn't be able to tell a difference between the one made in Sweden and the other in China. These stereotypes about where things are made are borderline racist. European things are not better, it's just europeans were better at colonizing others and stealing their resources and ideas.

I know that the standard line is “chef knife, paring knife, cheap serrated is all you ever need” but I have a Henckels tomato knife and do use it fairly often, so that helps the utility of this set somewhat.

Well yes this is a bit of a fallacy, Zwilling purposely makes their lower quality stuff in China and keeps their higher quality production in Europe.

They specially brand/price their knifes based on production: Germany > Spain > China > SEA

Calling out racist simply pointing out where an item was made from, you drag the topic out way too far.

Go to any rice cooker thread, always a discussion about rather the cooker was made from Japan? China? Taiwan or Malaysia..

A lot of customers look at where the product was made before making their purchase decision, it has nothing to do being racist or not.

Cool down!

Could be true if we're talking same models, eg: comparing Audi Q5 from Mexico to Audi Q5 from Germany. - which even then you could have some difference in manufacturing requirements and so on, but for argument sake let's say it's exactly same model/requirements.

However I believe Zwilling make their higher-end knives in Germany (and Japan for Miyabi); Some of the mid-tier in Spain, and the some of the mid/lower-end in China...

Agreed. Same goes with white top rechargeable batteries being made in Japan.

I also have a bunch of Dewalt batteries made in Japan. Now they’re made elsewhere in Asia and the quality has dropped significantly.
