CPAP and OHIP

I did a sleep study last summer and my sleep doctor says he can write me a prescription for a CPAP machine if wanted it. I didn’t take up on his offer then.

Now I want a CPAP machine. If I get a prescription now, can I still apply for the OHIP grant? OHIP website says I have to have the disability for six months or longer. Can I still qualify even though I just got a prescription now ? Doctor already has the study from the clinic that says my AHI is high enough for a CPAP.

Talk to your CPAP provider, they will issue you a receipt and more than likely will deduct the "ministry portion" from your invoice for you automatically, then you can pay the balance or claim it under your insurance if you have one

1st and foremost....

GET THE CPAP! If you have apnea, it will change your life.

2nd, as said above, when I got mine, the OHIP coverage was discounted automatically at the time of purchase. Then my work insurance covered 80% of the rest. To reiterate, for something that will legit change your life, even if I had to pay full price I would do it in a heartbeat. Because without it, well my heart would stop beating, and that is not a good thing.
