Crave (the Bell Media streaming service with Canadian rights to HBO, Showtime, etc.) has posted a Black Friday gift card offer - a $100 electronic gift card for $75.

As a reminder the base Crave package (Showtime, Letterkenny etc.) is $9.99/month or $99.90/year. The Movies + HBO addon is the same price, for a total of $19.98/month or $199.80/year total (all prices pre-tax, no tax should be charged on the gift cards themselves).

I have not tried this myself (I have Crave currently through a Rogers deal) but I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to buy multiple gift cards to get in effect, say, Crave + HBO for a year for $150 + sales taxes.

e.g. in Ontario the annual price of Crave + HBO would work out to be $199.80 + 13% HST = $225.77. So if you buy 2 gift cards, the 25% savings on the gift cards gives you a savings of $50 for a net price of $175.77, effectively 35% off the price as compared to paying monthly.

Note that as far as I know these gift cards will only work with the direct-billed version of Crave - so it could not be applied to a TV provider (even Bell TV) or an account billed through iTunes.

If I redeem this gift card, do I lose the ability to pay thru Itunes?

Edit: I did some exploring, and I don't think there's even a way to redeem this through the App Store (if you pay by Itunes). Shame.

Per the website.... https://www.crave.ca/en/support/how-do- ... p-44304715

How do I watch through my Chromecast in 1080p?

To get 1080p video resolution on Chromecast:

Cast Device Hardware and minimum requirements:
  • Chromecast 2nd Generation and up
  • Chromecast device is directly connected to power outlet using Chromecast dongle power cable
  • Chromecast firmware is up to date (to check firmware version follow steps: https://support.google.com/chromecast/a ... ic=3447927)
  • Chromecast device must be connected directly to the HDMI port
Home Network set up and minimum requirements:
  • Chromecast should be close to the modem if possible for the best connection and performance
  • Wifi home network speed at minimum = 6mbps (more needed if internet is being consumed by additional devices)

Thanks for confirming this. I'm in the same boat. Better off buying the iTunes gift cards during the Costco sale ($168 for $200).

I agree. Some really good content IMO.
Billions, Silicon Valley, Ballers, Letterkenny, Agents of Shield, Orphan Black
Not 4k, but it's ok.

Anyone know if this is like the Netflix gift card where you must use the full balance in one shot. As in you can't subscribe for a month, stop subscription, and then resume again later?

Get a $100 gift card for only $75 Offer ends Dec 4, 2019
I believe there should be no issue using the e-gift card for yourself, but I haven't tried.

Some good shows:

Letterkenny
Black Sails
Silicon Valley
South Park

If I bought this and applied it to my account, does anyone know if I can "pause" my account, and not go through the $100 all in succession?

The reason I ask is that Netflix wouldn't allow me to do this, and every month ate away at my credits.
