[3D printer] Ender 3 Pro $209 USD (~$276 CAD)

Deal Link:
Price:
$209 USD
Retailer:
Creality
I placed an order last Friday, and went OOS right after.

I checked today to see if it shipped (it hasn't) but looks like they've got more stocks now.

I paid $287 CAD last week and looks like the currency worked against my favour.

Don't think there's shipping and tax but correct me if I'm wrong.

Lowest on Amazon I've seen was ~$320.

Watching reviews now.

Always been interested in 3D printing.
Is this a good starter printer?

Thanks RFD.

For those on the fence and want to get your feet wet in the 3D printing world this is an excellent printer. This is an awesome deal and I paid $342cdn all in for my Ender 3 Pro last month from Amazon. Right now you can get it for $349.99 - $20 coupon off amazon so the deal from Creality is much better even after exchange.

Now I am debating if I should return to Amazon as today (Aug 12) is the last day I can do it, order new one from Creality and send this new one back to amazon :)

Quick note here for folks who aren't familiar with the ender 3 line of printers... the specs list a 220 X220mm print surface, but in reality it's a 235 X 235.

I've been running an Ender 3 (X) version since december last year and wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend the line to anybody looking to get their feet wet. What separates this line of printers from other similarly priced models is typically print bed size... quite simply there isn't another similar quality printer in this price range with this sized bed.

Plan to spend an extra $100(ish) if you want to upgrade it for all the bells and whistles... grab a creality BLTouch kit locally for somewhere around $40, a BIGTREETECH SKR MINI E3 replacement mainboard from aliexpress @ sub $40 (don't get the creality "silent" board, this is 10X better), and then a metal extruder top + replacement bed leveling springs @ $20(ish). That $100 + easy to self-print upgrades will turn this from a $300 printer into something that'll rival most sub-$1K printers.

edit: Looking back at my receipt, it appears I paid closer to $70 than $40 for the BLTouch so adjust the "plan to spend" up to $130 vice $100.

PLA has a slight odour, but it's not overpowering by any means. PETG has a slightly stronger odour but isn't toxic, once you start getting into ABS you'd want to look at proper ventilation. PLA is the standard filament that most folks print with.

I am debating the BLTouch Kit and heard nothing but good things about the BIGTREETECH SKR MINI E3 replacement board. I bought my Ender 3 Pro over a month ago, assembled it and only got around to doing my first print this past weekend. I bought the Creality upgrade kit but was advised in the FB group to hold off on installing any upgrades and see how the printer performs out of the box with stock parts.

I'm also planning to add a Pi3b+ and Pi-cam via Octoprint so I control/monitor my printer remotely too.
