Credit Karma being purchased by Intuit in 7.1b deal

I was browsing my news feed and this caught my attention. ... ng-it/amp/

I guess soon, yet another company will have access to your personal information if you choose to keep your Credit Karma account.
Personally, I feel Credit Karma no longer offers anything unique anymore, as more and more banks roll out pretty much the same service, with the only difference being weekly updates with CK.
The banks that offer the same kind of product as CK, updates once per month, which is often enough in my opinion, making CK pretty much pointless.
Having said that, I’m very shocked to see that they could be worth north of 7 billion dollars, especially when in the U.S most every bank offers what CK does, and more.
I guess I’m missing the bigger picture?

Oh boy, I guess it’s time to contact them and close my account...

Edit: looks like I don’t even need to contact them. I might wait until the transaction is completed.

Edit2: on a second thought, they still keep our data regardless. Are we basically screwed?
