Cut the cord with Rogers. Keep Nextbox PVR running?

So I'm finally cutting the cord, but would like to keep my PVR recordings operational. Read about disconnecting the cable before the service is cut off and using a UPS to keep the box powered up.

Has anyone successfully kept their PVR running?

Testing this out last night by disconnecting the cable (Sunday when the programming guide is updated) and this morning the box was in the reboot mode. (using a UPS already). Is this expected? Can guide update be disabled?

Thanks

You can only access the recordings while the box is connected to the Rogers service. Same thing happened to me with Rogers and Bell since the recordings are encrypted.

I have confirmed that I can access the recordings if I disconnect the cable several hours later. Just wondering how long it would last that way. Rogers service is still enabled right now. I'm hoping disconnecting the cable will not allow Rogers is disable the pvr.
