[Davids Tea] [warm] David's Tea Clearance, edit: Now it's Buy 2, Get One Free!

Deal Link:
Expiry:
July 11, 2021
Retailer:
Davids Tea
More offers from Davids Tea
It should be noted that the minimum to pay for free shipping is $39 however there is quite a lot of good stuff in my opinion that it should be fairly easy to hit that mark

edit: It's now Buy Two Get One, so with loose leaf, it's now much cheaper than buying the tin version.
However still worth getting the tin if there is no loose leaf version. Also there are the 10 dollar box sachets on sale. While expensive, for those that are willing to shell out a bit more, they're a good way to get a sampler of all of their teas at once.

Here's a few that stand out

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
Sweet Tarts is a fantastic tea, as it has a red berry puckery flavour that is really unique and just delicious at 2.69 for 50g. It would make an incredible iced tea and a fantastic hot tea. I highly recommend getting 100-200grams of it.

Tip: For first time buyers, I suggest steeping the teas for much longer. I noticed 20 minutes really is nothing compared to 1 hour or over night when making iced teas. I still don't have it down on what is the best time but for fruit teas, over night really makes a huge difference in making a stronger more flavourful tea.

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
Chocolate chip cookie 4.99
No experience but it's highly rated for being a desert tea
edit: Had it just now, it pretty much tastes like a chocolate chip cookie in liquid form. A lovely experience but I personally find it to be inoffensive and not bad. It's a dessert tea

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
Lemon Cayenne 5.99 for 77g
No experience but highly rated as a great iced tea
***edit : Might be significantly cheaper to buy loose leaf version instead

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
Chocolate Macaroon
$10 for 114g
Also highly rated
edit: Had it today, and it's pretty much a liquid chocolate macaroon. It's amazing how spot on the flavour and scent is however I find it to be way too much, much like a macaroon. I can't find myself to be able to to eat a box of macaroons unlike a box of cookies, the flavour is just too rich and this tea is no different. It's something I'll have once in a while.

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
Strawberry Moringa,
9 for 100 grams
Highly rated. I've had it before and it's pretty much strawberry that is upfront with a bit of a herbal touch.

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
Green Passionfruit
11 for 108 grams
This can also be purchased in tea sachets for 4 dollars which is 55g for 15 sachets

I have tried this and it's a fantastic green tea with a strong passionfruit flavour that is also an absolute classic. It's fantastic as an iced tea. It's well worth buying in its tin form

https://www.davidstea.com/ca_en/shop-al ... e-shop-all
This tin has 3 teas in it. It says on the site there's 159 grams but there was an identical tin with the same price that said it had 100 grams so I have no clue what's in it.
This tin is 5 dollars.
I've bought it a couple of days ago so I have no clue what the teas are like however I can say that the maple syrup oolong is praised as is forever nuts. Although I have heard the latter doesn't live up to its hype.
Oh Canada allegedly is very much controversial as either you love it or hate it. In fact you could buy a whole tin of the stuff for 6 bucks. Too many say it tastes too much like rum.
Perhaps it'll be great as an iced tea with a touch of vodka.
edit: I tried it today. It's basically a rummy flavour without the alcohol with lots of cinnamon. I found it to be enjoyable as a hot tea. It really seems perfect, and I bet it would taste great with cider. However if you're not a fan of a bit of rum or cinnamon then it's best to stay away
I also tried the Forever Nuts and I too was disappointed by it. The flavour has a faint fruity and nuttyness to it. I'll try steeping it overnight to see if more comes out of it but otherwise I find it too weak after a 10 minute steeping

There are also a ton of matchas in tins for sale but I have zero experience with them. Same goes with the pu-er tea.

While the best time would've been to buy on Canada Day when shipping was free, I should note a few things.

When looking at reviews for a tea, be sure to look for the loose leaf version as those for the tin are typically significantly less despite it being the same product but in a tin.

Also don't hesitate looking at the teas that are 4.50 on clearance. While they're not very cheap like the ones I pointed out, it's still a reasonable price for something that's quite delicious as opposed to David's Tea's insane regular prices.

Lastly, some people might get a pop up window on the website where you will write up a bogus email and it'll instantly give you a code for free shipping. This might only work for first time purchasers.

Also rakuten is 1%

ONE VERY LAST NOTE
For first time buyers only
If you're going to make a purchase over the minimum amount anyway, use the code STEEP20 for 20% off.
The website will offer free shipping for first time buyers, but 20% off the $39 should take off $8

edit: *** it should be noted that some are having an issue with STEEP20. I tried it myself and it make the final total way more expensive, try to contact Davidstea to sort this out

edit 2: As one person noted who had called, if you use STEEP20 to get 20% off, you won't be allowed to use the Buy Two Get One.

Also to those that think this is awfully expensive for what is mostly tisane tea, I agree. However based on litre output of the loose leaf, I think this is a more delicious and cheaper alternative than pop or store bought juice.
But if you have any alternatives that you'd like to recommend that are at $5/50grams or cheaper, then by all means do suggest them.

Thx, ordered all the $2.49 / $2.99 teas at 250g a pop. For reference, my wife wanted tisane tea bags and I had to go to Save on Foods and get some random ones and they were like $4.99 for 40 grams. This is a way better deal.

Can confirm. It doesn't need to be $39 for free shipping.

If you purchased more than 39 dollars worth, it'll be well worth it to ask for a refund asap and make the purchase with the code STEEP20 to get 20% off. It can't be stacked and it's only for first time buyers

David Tea's business model was doomed to fail, the pandemic just hastened it.

They started putting a store in every single major mall in Canada. Even in my tiny hometown.

They might interest people in tea who happened to see a David's Tea shop in the mall and got curious, but how long until these people newly addicted to drinking tea can count and realize it is much cheaper to buy their tea from online stores other than David's Tea or at Asian grocery stores? Or even at Walmart or Loblaws which have a lot of creative herbal tea formulas for 10-20 cents a cup? And that the formulas with funny names are only marketing fluff meant to hide their huge profit margins?

They might have generated a lot of buzz for a few years, but not many lifetime customers for sure.

Yes, it's for first time buyers. Try putting in davids tea on a different browser or in private mode. You should get a random window pop up on the site to sign up for a newsletter, put in a random fake email and you'll get a code

I'd prefer it if this rant was in the food forum as opposed to here, it's just derailing the topic.
Like I said in my first post, if you know of any brands in asian grocery stores, walmart or loblaws that can match their tisane teas at their price and flavour then be my guest and throw them in.

The only grocery store teas I know that are unique and interesting are Harney & Sons and Yogi. Both cost a pretty penny. For regular teas, I'd agree there are cheaper and better alternatives online.

Also you stated "Or even at Walmart or Loblaws which have a lot of creative herbal tea formulas for 10-20 cents a cup?" If you compare the amount of grams you're paying for, it does not come out as cheaper compared to DT. In fact it's quite expensive compared to loose leaf from online from other tea websites which there are a multitude of or any chinese tea store.
The only cheap grocery store option I've seen is buying loose leaf from Food Basics which is around 8 or 9 dollars for 500 grams of Ahmad tea which is an absolute bargin compared to DT. But if you want to go the more higher end route of single estate teas which are likelier to be fresh, it's a whole different ball park.

The code is for 10% off, not for free shipping right?

I thought it was for 10% but I could be wrong. I tried to set internet explorer to private to get the window but I didn't get it.
Either way, it doesn't hurt to try and see for yourself. It'll tell you what the code is for once you put it in your cart

For some reason, STEEP20 makes my final order MORE expensive. I seem to lose any existing promotions.

Okay. I saw the discussion above. I wanna probe further.

I used to live abroad and I was a big fan of TWG.
I have only tried the David's tea in the airport and it was disappointing.

I since taste is subjective, I just wanna ask, how does everyone see the quality of their blend?
How many pass usually can you guys get out of their tea?

Thanks and thanked, OP. Got 250gm of each of the acai power berry, lemon cayenne and cherry/sweet tart. They'll all make great iced tea. Free shipping plus B2G1 seemed to stack so it came to $29.90 all in.

This. Adding STEEP20 removed the Buy 2 Get 1 Free for me.

I added 150g of each tea to my cart, and am only charged for 100g for B2G1 Free offer.
