Day trip from Fortune, Newfoundland, to Saint-Pierre, France, now possible 3 days a week

With Saint-Pierre's new pedestrian ferry, it is now possible to affordably do France as a day trip from Newfoundland on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. 90 minutes each way. Cost: C$112 return, tax included, bought on the Internet (presumably for tax reasons).

You don't need a passport for Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, just a driver's licence.

With and overnight in Saint-Pierre, you can now also island hop without backtracking as Miquelon now has a direct ferry to Fortune, Canada.

Anybody do it as a day trip? Worth it as a side trip to St. John's if you've already been to France?

Parts of the islands are in Google Streetview.

From Antony Bourdain's trip to Newfoundland episode:

Random Youtube I found about Saint-Pierre and Miquelon:
Toronto is a very small part of Canada

I haven’t been for a long time, but found it an interesting place. It would be a super long day trip from St. John’s, but perhaps worth it from Fortune or Grand Bank, Marystown, etc.
