Thanks op. I've been looking at this and the more expensive rice cookers from the same manufacturer for some time now. We eat a lot of rice and my wife uses a t-fal multi cooker now, but I would like to upgrade if it's worth it. Any need for the more expensive ones? Is this "settling" or does it perform as well as the more expensive models?

From the first review on Amazon.ca: "The 10 cup cooker cooks small batches of rice (1 cup) just as well as the 5.5 cup model (previously owned). The footprint of the 10 cup model is only slightly larger than the 5.5 cup model". But that was obvious that you can cook 1 cup in a 10 cup cooker.

I don't think you will get your answers because people don't buy multiple expensive rice cookers. But I have the 4 year old 5.5 cup version of this and it's been excellent.

We always make bigger meals to have leftovers to freeze for work. So the 10 cup was what we wanted..

With the neuro fuzzy logic I think you’ll find this one cooks rice better than your t-fal. It will take a bit longer but worth it if you plan your meal out and start cooking the rice first. This is one of the more expensive models just on at a crazy discount right now. If you’re asking whether or not you need one of the induction ones, my opinion would be no - this one can cook just about any type of rice.
Congratulations!
