Beginner downhill skier here - anyone share recommendations on a good set. Ski + bindings seems like a good price to me..just don't know how well they hold up to other major brands.

Edit: I solved it....by referring to their sizing chart. Recommended skis based on height...

So now it's just to know how well they compare to major brands.

I have heard some of their downhill skis are made by Rossignol, likely the previous year models. I would not hesitate. They offer great skis for beginners for sure. Decathlon is a outdoor budget conscious store that offers a lot of value.

My kids are using their cross-country skis with no issues.

Thanks OP, picked up a pair of recreational warm skates; I could never use hockey skates, my feet get incredibly sore after 5 mins which makes skating a horrible experience.
Got the OXELO Warm, 9.5... great price!!

wow missed the rakuten, how dumb of me...

They will definitely hold up to major brands as most of their technical stuff are made by major brands. The bindings for backcountry skiing are made by Dynafit, skins by Pomoca. Downhill bindings are Tyrolia or Look. The "made in Italy" boots are probably made in Montebelluna where Scarpa, Nordica, Dynafit, and Tecnica boots are made.

Skis from major brands are also made in Austria, Bulgaria, Ukraine (before the Russia military operation), France, Spain, and China so rest assured at the end of the day, it's not the skis that are holding you back, it's the user. Smiling Face With Sunglasses

For less than $300 for a brand new downhill skis with modern Look/Tyrolia bindings, this is a way better deal than going kijiji and getting something used.

The Fit500 Ice Skates are dog shite. Feels like I'm on cement blocks even after getting them sharpened again elsewhere.

Skis are charged a flat fee for being oversized. $10 is very cheap to ship skis.

A flat fee of $10 is applicable if the order contains an oversized item with linear dimensions less than 300 cm or 118 in.

Thanks OP!

Ordered the cross 550 skis to try out skiing. Im a snowboarder, but the wife skis and she wants the toddlers to learn skiing so I might as well join in on the fun.

My experience with skis, ski boots and ski poles I bought from decathlon was that their below average.

One of my ski poles broke after falling during my first ski session of the season.

My brand new skiis has a bunch of markings and plastic falling apart after 1 ski session, same thing with the boots. Seemed to be poorly made. I returned all 3.

Honestly for $192 downhill skiis though maybe it's worth purchasing again, even if the quality isn't that great. Will likely buy boots and poles separate though.

Is there a discernable difference between the Cross 550+ and Boost 580 skis? Intermediate skier here looking to buy their first pair.
