I ran into the same thing. The cashier at the one (Ontario, Applewood Village) told me wont be offering them anymore. Only shoppers gift cards. Seriously hope that's not true...

There were the usual BIG & FULL Display of Gift Cards at the SDM I was in today.

Lol, the store you were in could be indeed doing Inventory & clean up (aka “a Refresh”)

Saw the same thing at the SDM I went to when I was getting the new PC Optimum card. Didn't really bother me though as I don't really have a habit of buying gift cards.

Hopefully a new way to purchase gift cards is in the works, since the potential for theft is there for ALL gift cards sold at Shoppers Drug Mart (they aren't the only retailer who's at risk, but they are the retailer we're talking about right now).

Either different gift cards or sold elsewhere in the store (behind the cash).

Maybe PC Optimum is rewarding points on gift cards, when it shouldn't (since the merge) - who knows, could be a million reasons.

Noticed the same thing at a local SDM today. Odd that 3rd party GC's were missing and SDM were left.

I wonder, with the recent program migration, whether the systems were allowing to redeem PC Optimum points on GC's?

I have it on very good authority that SDM is switching suppliers of the gift cards.
Some stores had their new drop of gift cards come late to their store. Instead of leaving the racks empty, some put SDM gift cards in their place.

Give it a few weeks for the new cards to be at the store at the latest.

Is this nationwide?

Will the new cards have better security? (I'm guessing not)

They are changing companies that provide them gift cards. They will be returning with a full selection shortly.

Didn’t even notice no gift cards in the store
if SDM is switching their gift cards supplier, hope the new ones have better security...

They should have 1 card that will work at all Loblaw stores.

I agree but then that would open the floodgates of people buying their GCs at SDM using Amex and then using the GC at Loblaws' grocery stores.
Cards:HSBC WE MC 1.5%/3% travel 0 FX MC acceptance 31 day med AF $49
CTC WE MC 3% grocery, 3.54% CTC, RA, billpay

I've recently noticed a restocking of cards in one of the Toronto SDM stores, but now there are a bunch of cards for some restaurants I have never heard of.
Also, there's one for Applebee's.
Where are they? I know there is one in Niagara falls, but nothing in Toronto.
It makes me think that maybe Applebees is opening a new location in Toronto soon.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
