The flat rate applies to all electricity use, not sure why OP is calling out electric cars in specific. I also thought I somehow went back in time 22 years because Ontario Hydro hasn't existed since before the millennium.

Nothing against OP: this is kind of a reasonable thing to post, but I'm down-voting, because the last thing we need right now with record case numbers, and at least three new strains, is an excuse to travel more.

I’m working from home now and sometime back moved to flat rate as my calculations showed this would be somewhat more beneficial to me. Certainly is more convenient as now I can charge my car and run the washer/dryer and dishwasher any time of the day.

Isn't tiered 10.1c as initially planned for Jan 1 2020 until this 8.5c kicked in until the lockdown is over? So even the initial post is incorrect, as tiered would be saving 1.6 cents instead of what OP stated as 4 cents +? Yes either way TOU or Tiered currently is 8.5c so it doesn't matter as i type this - but I'm just asking for the sake of clarity... i guess that's part of the numerous downvotes... LOL
