Very good teardown and benchmark of the 90W RTX 3060 here:

And comparison with a 130W version of the same graphics chip (in a Legion 5). Interestingly enough, in some games the 90W Dell actually performs better:

They aren't the same price, are they? Everyone has different needs/budget. Here is another option with lower price and supports thunderbolt.

It was very similar in price I believe. $1380 (5800) vs $1350 (this). Is the 5800H that much better over the Intel? That one was sold out but I'm sure this is next on the list. Seems decently priced to me but I've been out of the market for a while now so still doing my research.

Speaking of, does Dell restock during the sale? What are the chances 5800H comes back before the 23rd lol?

Regardless, if USB ports are important to you, this one has all USB 3.2 ports whereas the 5800H Ryzen edition has 2 USB 2.0 replaced.

Edit: Actually I ended up purchasing the Ryzen 5800H version - can confirm it came with all 3 USB 3.1 ports instead of USB 2.0.

Hmm lol. I thought the 1380 is doorbuster only and cannot use 10% off code?

I didn't try it, but the lower model (RTX 3050 + 5600H) could apply the 10% code. There was another thread about it. The OP didn't mention if 10% worked for the 5800H though so can't confirm.
RFD: Pick any two.

Almost every single dell gaming laptop crams in a dim 250 nit screen. Such a shame for otherwise decent machines.

That’s the point. If these were top of the line machines with bright screens, then you’d complain about the price.

reviews say the max wattage on the gpu is 90w - I think the other ones were 115w for the same rtx 3060's

So I think we are talking more than $30 here.
You are right. Price difference is $165. But I would still recommend the Ryzen version. 5800U is a significantly better CPU than ii7-10870H.

Also, the Ryzen one has a much better display: 15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) 165Hz 300 nits WVA Anti- Glare LED Backlit Narrow Border Display (100% sRGB).

I'm struggling to find the ports on this laptop. Not sure why the product page doesn't clearly show it.

I don't see usb c on the pictures of the laptop but I saw the product page reference thunderbolt 3.

Can anyone clarify?

I'm looking for a personal laptop where I can simply swap my dell dock's thunderbolt cable from my work laptop to this laptop to both power and display out.

Bought this a short while back but with the RGB keyboard, now an even better price for a solid laptop so you can't go wrong. You can pay a bit more for the AMD but you won't notice a performance difference in real life usage. Comparative comments on the screen brightness don't do it justice, it is bright enough. It's subjective anyway, such as what are you coming from previously? For my daughter who uses this, it is a thousand Suns brighter than her old gaming laptop.
One word of caution, it does not have the special M2 nvme clip needed to add a second drive included. I tried to order it from Dell but their Support line was pretty useless and clueless, plus the part is apparently out of stock ATM. A similar part can be found on Amazon.

Yes the 3060 model has Thunderbolt included, if the images are confusing it may be because it is a shared port I believe? I can't remember exactly right now as I bought this months ago but if it says it comes with it, it definitely does.

EDIT OK looking at the pics now I remember better. The pics included on the Dell site are for the base video card and not the 3060. It will have Thunderbolt, the pics shown just don't include the extra port. I'm sure you can Google a better image.
c'mon get happy!
