Does any usbC port on desktop/laptop work? Or must be special for video output?

From what I've read, the one that comes with the monitor supports video output

Don't buy if you want to use a MacBook with it, there are some compatibility issue. I found my u3419w keep scanning the usb-c input signal even the MacBook on sleeping mode and wake MacBook up. There are several post on dell community/forum, no solution yet.

I don't see why it wouldn't. USB video has been a thing for like a decade or more now. Don't know why it wouldn't work on all USB C ports too.

Off topic, but I have Lenovo ThinkVision P24h which is similar as this one (except it's 2K instead of FHD) and works flawlessly with my 2017 MBP.

I have U2719DC and MacBook Pro. There are some issue if you want to use daisy chain (MST) in this monitor. The usb-c port is not thunderbolt 3. It is usb 3.1 + DP1.4. But Mac OS not support MST via DP1.4.
So if you want to use one cable to connect two monitor they are mirror and the bandwidth also not support two 2K displays.

If you only use one display, it may works. It also can provide 65W power to MacBook.
