[Dell] Alienware 25" Gaming Slim Bezel Monitor: AW2518HF 1080p @ 240Hz w. FreeSync -- $429.99

https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/new-ali ... ccessories

So this thread is only of interest for serious gamers. Here's why.

25" Slim Bezel Monitor
TN
1MS
FreeSync (Nvidia Compatible)
240Hz

Price = $429.99

Connectivity
DP1.2, HDMI1.4 4x USB3.0 Audio Out

I've seen similar 240Hz monitors deployed in competition, it's no joke. The market for these monitors isn't huge given their price tag, but prices are coming down.

The last frontier of 2D display technology is high refresh rate outputs, easing eye strain for untold millions.

God bless.

Is it worth noting that that's the AMD Freesync model? Just asking, wasn't sure. The G-Sync goes up to $599 :(

Actually, it's extremely important, so thanks for calling it out.

Good FreeSync works flawlessly on Nvidia cards, making this a keeper of a monitor. If you notice tearing though, given this price tag, it's an automatic return.

Looks like the newly announced G-Sync compatible option to use with Freesync monitors came just in time.
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/ne ... uncements/
Very tempted with this offering.

The following YouTube review comparing freesync vs gsync using the newly released drivers but not specifically testing this monitor

But I have a feeling this will do just fine.

RFD isn't a classical gaming forum, so folks may be confused by the downvotes. Truthfully, it's to be expected when the words TN and 1080p are uttered within vicinity of a 'high' price. RFDers are by and large not serious gamers, but the 7.36% that are... understand that this is a reasonably priced offering.

I don't fall into this demographic, but I share out of generosity with those that do.

God bless.

Newb here, but want a QC capable system. Is Freesync or G-Sync even needed for high fps hames, i.e. 200+ fps?
