How much tougher is it to drive modern games at this res compared to 1440p @ 16:9 ratio, out of curiosity?
2560x1440 = 3686400 pixels

3440x1440 = 4953680 pixels

It would be 34% "tougher" so expect 100 FPS averages to dip below 70. Or something like that anyway. Gsync helps with tearing, but there's no replacement for high FPS.

I used to own the Asus monitor that's somewhat similar to this, PG348Q with a 1080TI, and it was a pretty good experience. But 'downgrading' to a 2560x1440 at 144hz definitely felt smoother overall and no loss on resolution (just don't get the ultra wide viewing).

So my monitor finally arrived and I must say it looks gergous unfortunally, It is going back for several reasons
1. screen has a scratch on the lower right corner. next to the windows start menu
2. It gave me a light headache as most video are not 21:9 i guess the wasted space when in 16:9 was the reason.
3. the stand support is such a bad design. it pushes the monitor foward way too much . i already have a big desk from ikea (adjustable bekant) and the monitor is half way out
4. it smoked my old Gpu :( its an old gtx 580 . i never knew it can kill it but it did i thought i would just get slow fps. playing league was fine but bf3 killed it within 15 seconds. screen froze. pc rebooted and resolution went to default with green matrix lines all over the place. unable to install driver

as someone mentioned before. this monitor is not for everybody . i guess im keeping my good ol' Dell ultrasharp U2715H

The only 4K gaming monitor with a refresh rate of 144hz is the ASUS PG27UQ which is currently selling for $2600. This monitor I believe is the lowest it’s ever been.
I believe that his point is the Asus is actually 3840 × 2160, so you really cannot compare it or other similar-class monitors to the 3440 x 1440 Alienware.

I bought this like 2 months ago. I have a 1080ti. Games have low fps on this monitor. This monitor really seems to drag down fps a ton.

If I had the choice to go back id buy something else.

Also the input slots for hdmi and dp are in the worst position imaginable. I couldnt even use my own dp cord because of the way the inputs are slanted, nothing but tiny wires can fit.

Overall not impressed

Obviously if you're running games at high resolution (this monitor), high graphic detail settings, they are going to lag. Need some serious horsepower for a monitor like this.
As for the cables, I used the thick cords that came with it, no real issues?
