[Dell] Alienware 34" Curved Gaming Monitor (AW3420DW) - $1014

So, i've been following the Alienware AW3420DW Nano IPS monitor since it came out last summer. It's already "discounted" this week for $1299.99 from it's outrageous $1699.99 regular price, but it can now be had for $1052 after 10% Rakuten and 10% off monitor coupon from Dell ("10%OFFMONITOR" ...now works for this monitor, didn't before). You also get $38 in dell rewards, so its final price is $1014.

Its predecessor, the 3418DW, uses an older LG panel. This 3420DW uses LG's newest Nano IPS panel for phenomenal color reproduction, ultra-low 2ms latency, 120hz guaranteed (not overclocked), and Dell's quality assurance. Best ultra wide on the market hands on.

This is the cheapest i've seen this monitor for, and i pulled the trigger today as i've been looking to get the best of the best but was waiting for it to come down to the $1000 mark. I've kept my last Dell monitor for 10 years now, so it's a good investment IMHO.

Good deal! If I didn't already have the older model, I'd jump on this right way.

Have the 18 model, wanted the 20 as I too keep monitors forever. Hasn't been this cheap and I just spent my rewards on an SSD so... Guess I should just be thankful with what I have!

Teases us with Cyberpunk on the monitors. This looks like an incredible price for this monitor.

So desperately want to pull the trigger but I just know that doing so will mean I'll have to spend the same money again on graphics cards to run Cyberpunk 2077 on that beast.

Ya i hear you. I'm waiting for Nvidia's Ampere cards to come out this summer to upgrade from my GTX 1070. Cyberpunk has been delayed to fall 2020, so plenty of time still. The RTX 3070 Ampere is supposed to be quite the upgrade for a 1070 from what I'm reading! And it'll support Ray tracing with ease. :)

Great deal, if I didn't just get the AW3418DW for $800 I'd order this for sure.
That's 30 minutes away, I'll be there in 10.

That was for the 3418DW, the 2017 model using the older LG panels. That model was on clearance on Black Friday/Boxing Day and people that ordered it had it delayed until Feb 24th (a 2 and half month delay!) because they were out of specific part. I ordered it, then cancelled when they updated the order status to Feb 24th. I complained to Dell customer support and got offered a 10% refund on my next order, which was today for the 3420DW. So hope they honor it so I can get a further 10% off. :)

Again, i keep my monitors for a long time, so wanted to just get a Nano IPS and do it right from the get go.

tempted, but i need get a PC or laptop first. And I believe this one has some trouble with Apples (macbook pro), I mean the 3418 model, when I googled during BF/BD. don't know if 3420 has fixed issues.

Forgive my ignorance but how do you get 10% off with the 10% Rakuten discount?

I think the apple problem might be related to the cables people use. I've seen the 3418 used with an apple before.
I had problems on my PC with my old displayport cable that worked fine on 2560x1600 monitor I had before. Replaced the cable and no problem at all.

Nice. Overall a great monitor but not worth $200 more than the Boxing Day deal on the 3418. Nano IPS is mostly just marketing and there's basically no noticible difference to the naked eye

I looked at those 4th gen panels from LG. They're 38"+, 4k (so I'd need the highest end GPU), 144hz-160hz which is hardly a noticeable difference from 120hz, don't offer anything new for color accuracy over Nano IPS, and go for $2500+ which is way beyond my budget.

The 3rd gen LG panel that the 3420DW uses is really cream of the crop. I actually initially wanted to buy the LG 34GK950f (same panel)...but heard of quality assurance issues from LG and it hardly ever dropped below $1200. When i saw Dell was making a monitor with the same panel i was sold, but not for its initial price of $1700!Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes
