[Dell] Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen 5900X, RTX 3080, 32 GB 3466MHZ, 2TB M.2, 1000W, Water Cooled PC $2840

Good Day!

I know there are many haters out there toward the Alienware R10 with it's design and heat issues, however after researching for some time and not being able to source parts for a PC that compares in price (especially being impossible to get an RTX 3080 for less than $1300), this is a pretty great deal.

I managed to snag a 15% off coupon from a friend to make it better. Rakuten was 2%, so about $55 back.

The build I chose to get to $2840 was:

cpu
AMD® Ryzen™ 9 5900X (70 MB total cache, 12 cores, 24 threads, up to 4.80 GHz Max Boost Clock)

Windows 11 Pro, English

videocard
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080, 10 GB GDDR6X, LHR

memory
32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, DDR4, 3466 MHz, XMP

harddrive
2 TB, M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD

Lunar Light chassis with High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling and 1000W Power Supply

Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (2x2) 802.11ax Wireless LAN and Bluetooth 5.1

The quick push/pull fan mod makes a big difference in cooling, video seen here:

If you don't like Alienware, I understand, however I feel this is a good deal to get a PC with these specs including a one year warranty.

$100OFF$2000PC coupon gives $100 off.

EDIT: I payed $2490 with the coupon I had total with tax. Should hopefully help bring value? If one can get that coupon. So many downvotes!

EDIT: Rakuten at 12% April 1st! Not an April Fools joke!

Cheers

Great computer overall. I bought a nearly identical configuration for about 100 bucks less a month ago.

Had a few intermittent issues with some of the hardware, but receiving a replacement machine tomorrow. The warranty is worth it.

Not a deal, similar price as DIY even with overpriced gpu.

Dogshit Dell OEM parts, especially the case. Wouldn't pay more than 2500.

yeah, I would agree. I had worked with some Dells and they are just not very end-user friendly. Either they cheap out on some OEM parts or they make it challenging to upgrade parts on your own. Including the case, all of the ones I've worked on were such a pain to open.

I heard the airflow is horrible.

If you get this system, I would recommend buying a new case, PSU, and a motherboard. and perhaps a new CPU cooler as well.
That is what I did with my XPS 8930 (similar internal design).

After I immigrated the system to a new case, the performance difference is night and day.

Don't buy Alienware when the videocard is becoming more easily available.

People were only buying these machines earlier in the days because the videocards were hard to come by. Recently it seems like the 3080 are starting to be more easily available and closer to original msrp.

You also get a much longer warranty, better cooling, better quality component with the retail boxed videocards than the one year warranty with Dell/founder reference designed card.

I bought something like this over a year ago but $1000 bucks cheaper with just an i5... But so worth it I gutted the video card put it into my build and used the PC for a server for other stuff and works great for single threaded performance... That being said I don't think 3k is worth it at all. It was also delayed they gave discounts, etc... Ended up being under $2000 and that was amazing during the drought.

Good advice. Thank you.

They play with your card without your authorization. Had to suffer for months. Hence I downvote every Dell posts.

I recently ordered an R13 with a 12600k, 16GB of DDR5, and a 3080. After tax and Rakuten at 13-15% plus 10% off through unidays I paid around $2400.

The R13 still has the proprietary Dell parts like mobo and PSU, but they greatly improved the overall fit/finish plus airflow over the R10. The 3080 is made by MSI for Dell and reviews on the card itself are solid.

I definitely could have just built a system myself. But the part shortages made that very challenging, the price was right, and it showed up 2 weeks later. Awesome rig so far.

when it's a machine that ships in weeks or months... they preauth your CC then reverse it, then preauth it again. repeat and repeat until it actually ships. really, I think this only matters as it 'uses up' available credit on your CC if that's important to you.
Saving money on things I don't need since 2009. thanks RFD

May be I would upvote this 3 months ago, but it is just not a good deal now.
you can easily get a 3080 for 1500, try harder and u can find one for less
CPU, good ram, mobo, ssd, case, cooler, PSU at same spec u can build for less than 1k, and you dont need to suffer the dell hot box and truly use the performance

p.s. I did order a R12 with 3090 to test and confirms it is a hot mess....

I purchased one of these guys for my highend cad/ 3d person and he loves it. Much better than the Apple Intel based crap they were buying and running Windows for their Apps.

What would be the point? Just build your own if you're going to replace that much.

Don't ever buy these PC's they use cheap o motherboards. And anyone who cares about their PC or performance/gamers know to buy proper gaming/performance MOBO's.

Just in case if you don't want to DIY or don't have the time like myself. This is a great COTS PC for everyday stuff and occasional game sessions.
