[Dell] Alienware with RTX 3080 (and other vid options) - $1980 - 16GB RAM, i5 11400F, 512GB SSD

yet another weekend deal by Dell, similar to dell-weekend-sale-1440-special-edition- ... b-2480643/ but this time it's on an Alienware. Well you can still get the XPS but now it's similarly priced with Alienware for the 3060 Ti card, plus you get an i7 cpu and 2TB mechanical HDD on top.

Back to Alienware: For the 3080, the current price is $2200 - 10% coupon = $1980 before any cashback.

The configuration includes an i5 processor so I think we may be able to live with an air cooled Alienware, I don't know. Or you can upgrade to liquid cooling for $100 more which I think is a bargain.

SPECS:
processor
11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5 11400F (6-Core, 12MB Cache, 2.6Ghz to 4.4GHz)

os
Windows 10 Home English

videocard
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 10GB GDDR6X

memory
16GB Dual Channel DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz; up to 128GB (additional memory sold separately)

harddrive
512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD

color
Dark Side of the Moon chassis with Low-Profile Smart Cooling CPU Heatsink and 1000W Power Supply

Subtotal: $2,799.99
Order Level Promotion: -$820.00
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
PST: $0.00
GST: $0.00
HST: $257.40
Total Amount: $2,237.39

All different options:
  • RTX 3080 + 1000W air cooled CPU for $1980
  • RTX 3070 + 550W air cooled CPU for $1620
  • RTX 3060 Ti + 550W air cooled CPU for $1530 (select liquid cooling for August ship date)
  • RX 6800XT + 550W air cooled CPU for $1755 (select liquid cooling for August ship date)
According to GN, this machine is hilariously bad though:

Graphics card teardown (3090 but thr 3080 should have the same build):

1. Open a new browser in Incognito mode
2. Go to https://temp-mail.org/
3. Copy that generated email in step 2 and paste to and fill up the form with placeholder info (I just paste the email into every single box except the reCapcha, remove the special chars and numbers just in case for first and last names) https://www.dell.com/preferences/signup ... Gqv10lCE-U
4. Do the reCapha, submit
5. Wait a bit, usually less than 30 minutes => Profit
6. Repeat the above steps with another Incognito session/browser

In the last 'deal' .. Dell listed some cards that were described as the 'Studio' version. People assumed these were the LHR cards. They were the same price(s).

Damn good deal. Paid like 500 more for this setup (but with AMD) back in March. Use this one mostly for mining. Once you put some paste on the GPU in areas where there is none, thermals are actually quite good. Currently, mining on high (101MH/s) with 49C GPU and 90C Vram with this paste: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08NJT ... UTF8&psc=1 Don't let anyone tell you that those Dell branded 3080s are any worse than others. They don't know what they're talking about.

Right now Ergo and Raven coins are making good money so LHR could make as much as mining ETH post EIP 1559. Not financial advice

problem with after eth stops the profits are going to tank because the network cant handle all the hashrate, so even if they are good now doesnt mean it will be the same after

Agreed. Dell makes decent RTX 30-series and RX 5000/6000 series cards.

Does Dell have some deal with Intel or something? AMD isn't even an option here, and hell the AMD chips are superior too.

Intel and Dell are secretly in bed. So much so that they got fined for it:

https://www.extremetech.com/computing/1 ... gainst-amd

"The EU found, in part:

That Intel paid rebates to manufacturers on the condition that they would buy all (Dell) or nearly all of their CPUs from Intel.
That it paid computer manufacturers to halt or delay the launch of AMD hardware, including Dell, Acer, Lenovo, and NEC."

Dell/Alienware does sell AMD, in the R10 Ryzen Edition , just not the R12

I just got a notice and opp to buy a 3060 direct from EVGA this week and passed because all of the new die cards are nerfed. I'm pretty sure that my assumption holds enough credibility. If you want to risk it, be my guest... but I'm 99% positive that all new DELLs with 30xx GPUs are nerfed for mining ETH.
I received an XPS on July 23 with a non LHR 3060ti. Not very long ago.

FYI as there is no 10% CB on rakuten, purchase through aeroplan gives you 7pts/$ which is better than 2% rakuten gives
