Would this be suitable for a photo, video, and editing/design professional?

Not really a gamer but also does not want to spend $2k on a macbook, even though it's the industry standard.

yeah for sure this will def run the heaviest editing applications, the specs on this blow MacBook out the water. No Mac at 2k can hold a candle to this.

Edit, I might have been a bit exaggerating on what I said. Was testing my new DaVinci iQ LOL.. Spoiler alert, it works lol. If uno uno.

I assume you can only get a unidays code by being a student or faculty? :( Anyone got an extra code they won't use?:).

It can definitely run that style of software, I will be using it for graphic design and CAD work and by all accounts it will be definitely powerful enough.

Just remember, this laptop (and any gaming laptop) will be heavier, thicker, and run louder and hotter than a similar MacBook Pro or Surface Book 2. There is a reason those laptops cost 2x as much for similar specs.

If you're okay with that, then a gaming laptop such as this one is a great value option.

The g5 is regular 60hz screen and no option to get rid of the junk 5400rpm HDD in favour of upgrading to a 512gb SSD

Those 2 are easily worth the extra $200
thanks. Do you know if it is the same with the G5SE?

That model is Dell's next step up from the G5, it gives you the 512gb SSD in place of the 256+1tb combo, but still doesn't give you the 144hz screen. $120 more gets you the 144hz screen plus the improved build quality (ex. Metal lid).

he is 17 and yes he plays and is taking grade 12 programming in the fall
I meant what games does he play?
Being 17 it might not be as much Minecraft but more like something that requires FPS.

Am I the only one left on earth that is fine with 60hz screens?
Also it's not an NVMe but you can still shove a 2.5" SSD in there.

It's closer to 3x. The Inspiron 14 5000 is pretty close to a MacBook Pro in terms of paper specs.
But it's also 2x the size.

if you don’t want to wait, then cancel your order... things come up that can delay your order in any business. The entitlement.

Have serious FOMO that I missed out on this one. I tried this yesterday, and unfortunately my codes don't stack.
