Agreed. Bought the BX500 last week from Amazon for $66.99 but this is a better drive for only a few dollars more. Going to return it and get this one. I should have been more patient.

I'm looking for a SSD to add to my Nvidia Shield, will this work?

If not, is there a good option on sale right now?

Thanks

From a quick Google, it appears like it would work if you have the Shield TV Pro with the 500GB internal storage.

Here's instructions.

What makes this one better?
What about MX500 vs. this one?

What about MX500 vs. this one?
1. Online review benchmarks suggest the WD is faster for certain activities. In reality for my use case i doubt i would notice.
2. Has a DRAM cache versus DRAMless for BX500 (which partly explains #1)
2. 500gb versus 480GB for Bx500 so a wee bit more space.
3. 5 year warranty vs 3 year for BX500.
4. Much larger TBW (at least 50% more).

The reality for me is that assuming there is no failure, their expected longevity is 15+ years which will outlast my need of either. So are those perks worth the extra 9-10 dollars? For me it gives me a warm fuzzy that it seems a better quality device even if I never notice. Note, I’m not saying others would not notice.

Regarding the Crucial MX500 vs WD Blue 3D, my opinion is that it’s a tossup. I think the consensus is that the MX500 Has the edge but not dramatically so. I have one MX500, one WD Blue 3D and one Samsung 860 EVO. For everyday usage, they all feel the same so I usually buy based on price .
