Dell support is literally a nightmare on the consumer side. I'm returning this for the sake of my sanity... Not worth it for a damn m2 bracket.

For anyone looking to upgrade the ram, though I don't have my laptop yet, a number of people on eBay are selling (or have sold) this exact memory that they claim was pulled from a new Dell 5505: SK Hynix HMA81GS6DJR8N-XN. No guarantees that is the same in your laptop, but seems likely.

As was mentioned by previous posters, this ram is PC4-25600, 3200mhz, CL22 timing. Also, if you're looking to match as close as possible with a 3rd party stick, it is single rank memory (which is what I was trying to confirm when I went looking :) )

Honestly, if I were in your position, I'd search for 'NVMe mount' on Amazon.ca, buy a few kits with prime shipping and return all but the most affordable kit that works.

That seems a lot easier than playing phone tag with Delhi.

I love these laptops too much to let their weak customer service put a damper on my experience.

For @turtleh and company:

I ordered the QTEATAK heatsink, but after installing it, I couldn't get the laptop case to screw back on. The heatsink was too high.

The heatsink is useless, it's too thick. The entire value from that purchase came from the screw itself. Ironically it was still one of the cheapest kits and it included the heatsink.

Please don't waste your time on the extra heatsink, most SSDs come with an adequate thin heatsink (or no heatsink). Short of running a media server or file transfer intensive system that's heavily reliant on the SSD, it's a waste of effort.

That singular screw was worth $6.99 (free shipping, no tax). I avoided pages of hand wringing and frustration that others went through just for some obscure part. I say this with respect to all my colleagues here.

Could you recommend me a good business laptop. What all I should consider while buying it and which is the best place o buy laptops, I'm in Durham region but can buy anywhere from GTA or online.
Uses will be office management like scheduling appointments etc.. And need to use some softwares to program medical devices.
TIA

I've been notified that my laptop has arrived at our offsite office.

Point of reassurance.

Meanwhile my employee is chugging along with her Dell 4500U work-at-home laptop.

I received today, and just finished running updates & removing junk, when I notice a strange looking dent in the chassis under the left side usb port. I dont think thats normal, and i'm not sure how much thats gonna bother me. Anyone have any experience swapping a laptop back with dell because of physical defects?

You likely won't get another one. They wouldn't give me a replacement from September 17th which was to be delivered September 23rd.

It's been like 8 days since they received their laptop back ajd one supervisor emailed me to switch to this better upgrade model.

Inspiron 15 5000 Series -5593 $1,088.99

400-BGMN 1 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

555-BDBY 1 802.11ac 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth
45 Watt AC Adapter
451-BCGV 1 3-Cell Battery, 42WHr (Integrated)

I literally said in what way is any of this better? Because it is 512gb SSD? I had a 1TB NVMe SSD good to go. I would take a Ryzen 7 4700u and 8gb ddr4 3200 and wifi 6 2x2 and a 53 wHr battery any day of the week compared to this. Told them if they don't immediately refund I am going to file a dispute as it is enough shenanigans.

I have sworn off Dell forever. I'm sorry. A company this inept deservea all the negatives. The reason they can offer cheaper prices is because they have horrendous supply chain management, no user back end. Random operators in Manila and one of the worsrt run call centers in Hyderabad ever. I just wish I didn't sleep on those Ryzen 4700u at costco. Nothing else available. Probably will have to wait for black friday now.
