[Dell] Dell 49” U4919DW - $1599.99 - 10% off monitors

I’ve been tracking the Dell 49” U4919DW which has been out of stock for a while. It’s back and now discounted from regular price of $2149 to $1599.99.

10% off monitors code works too, 2% on Rakuten currently.

Vertical resolution is 1440p, personally I would prefer 2k

I think it'd be too wide to be comfortable, unless you pushed it way back, but then what's the point?

I'm a software developer, wrestling with where to go from a 32" 4K monitor that's a bit too tall and too narrow to keep me in the zone. I'm probably going to try 34" 21:9 next, but 1440p may be too low dpi. I'd love to get one of the new QD displays, but I'm not sure they're good enough for fine details and text, they seem to be optimized for moving video. I may jump on a well-priced 1600p or 2160p 21:9 IPS model, but would really like to have infinite contrast.

I’m buying to replace 2 27” 1440p monitors. Will wall mount on an arm. For my purposes, this is a nicer solution.

I've been using this for a few years now at home and it's been great with some limitations. It's hard to explain but once you got this size you're hooked.

For anyone working with editing programs or if you need multiple windows open its a no brainer. Color accuracy is decent after calibration but I wouldn't call this a great monitor for professional photo work.

No HDR and an oddball resolution. Yet, I can't find myself replacing this monitor anytime soon unless a similar size screen comes out with qd-oled or something similar as an option.

I hope you didn’t just buy a new monitor, because Dell Alienware’s new QD-OLED AW3423DW is HERE and it’s giving everything else in this price range a serious run for its money. It's high refresh rate (175Hz) , GSYNC HDR, and OLED. Have we achieved a zero-compromises monitor?!

Are you guys really comparing a 49 inch monitor to a 34? Some of us are size queens, I much rather have 15 more inches than deeper blacks.

if you are not using it for the game, this feels like it has more drawbacks than the benefit of just buying two monitors side by side.

And if you are using it for games, 60hz feels weird, at this price point. Even if 60hz isn't a deal-breaker, games have trouble supporting UW, even where some game has UW support they have a problem with such an odd-ball 5120 x 1440 resolution, you are generally much better off with 4k oled. you lose about 20cm on the width but a lot more height, actually usable as a media consumption, much better image quality, *and* actually good refresh rate.

I have this and I wouldn't buy it again.

Gaming? No, it's 60 fps and no VRR. Also, many games look "weird" as devs weren't thinking about this resolution.

Movies? No, image quality is far worse than an OLED and the resolution is wrong.

Productivity? 2 x 27 is way cheaper and almost as good. In fact, I think I may even like it more - having a black bar in the middle is annoying but this doesn't have enough curve for my normal seating position.

Beyond that, the resolution is incompatible with some (recent) hardware.

YMMV of course, I'd suggest an OLED or two S2722QCs.

(Also, no time machine, but I bought this almost 3 years ago for $1,439.99 before CB)

I wouldn't use this in my photo editing work, too wide to organize all the windows and If I was centered I'd have to look left all the time at my main application, I have a 34 ultra wide with a 27 inch 1440kp and that's been working super well.

Yeah. Quite honestly, a 34" 1440p monitor is pretty much the sweet spot. I *might* consider 38" 1600p... Once you get up to the size of the 49" monitors, you'll start running into a lot of compromises with the resolution.

If you really want a 49" monitor, the Dell panel isn't the one you want. Last year's version of the Samsung panel is better in nearly every way, and you can find it for about the same price when it's on sale. Or save up a little bit and buy the new mini-LED version.

That new Alienware panel is nearly perfect in every way. It's just not available right now...

Yes, it is half (58%) the pixel count of a 4k display and 49.8% of the pixel count of the monitor that OP posted. Might not get it to 165 hz refresh rate, but 60 hz and even 120 hz would probably run fine.
