[Dell] Dell Inspiron 14 2in1 w/4500u, 8gb,256gb: 699 plus 10% coupon

Good deal on a reasonably lightweight Ryzen laptop. Has an open RAM slot to add another 8 gb and have dual channel performance. 4700u/16gb/512 version with larger battery is on sale for 1049 before coupon, decent price but not as good performance per dollar.

To get a coupon, either sign up for Dell emails or use Unidays. I believe Perkopolis also has 5% discounts but the coupons do not stack.

Edit to add link to previous thread on same configs- dell-dell-inspiron-7000-14-2-1-4500u-8g ... e-2456272/

Good to hear! How has battery life been? I was tempted by the 4700u config for the larger battery more than anything else.

It's been decent! I was a bit worried based on some reviews, but I feel it's been pretty good. I wish I had hard numbers but I haven't been able to do tests yet. I'm guessing I get 6-8 hours, that's my very unscientific estimate.

How many nits is the screen? It doesn’t say. I assume 250?

Ordered, thanks OP been obsessively stalking Kijiji, Mktplace, Reddit and RFD for a deal on a Laptop for about a week.... Almost pulled the trigger on a used Lenovo yesterday for 600$ (16 GB RAM, but crappier screen AND used... )

I can go back to work now without refreshing all the aforementioned sites every hour :D

Does anyone know if it comes with the stylus? It shows one in the video, but doesn't explicitly mention that it includes one. It just says "stylus compatible". Thanks

At 0:27, it says pen sold separately.

Pen sold separately, $50.

Screen is 250 nits IIRC (maybe someone can double check that for me.) Since it's a glossy screen, you do get some glare if you're in a very sunny room. In that scenario, it would be nice if the screen went a touch brighter. It's probably the one drawback for me. It's not bad, but 10% of the time I wish it were a tiny bit better. At the price I paid I am not complaining! Very happy with my purchase.

I upgraded to 16gb ram immediately by adding a 8gb Crucial stick for $60. This one is compatible: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08C4Z69LN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_HMJF1NQ6MN48HM488W5C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Based on a user review, the screen quality seems poor.

"It has an IPS 1920 x 1080 resolution. However, the main flaw-negative with this attractive metal (quality build) laptop is it’s rather poor NTSC 45% rating and 220 nits level."

The slightly larger $999 intel model also looks interesting if you need more base ram (at an awkward 12gb), a 100% sRGB display, more/better ports (hdmi 2, thunderbolt 4), 512gb SSD. The iGPU drivers aren't as widely compatible as AMD's if you plan to do low-spec gaming or have gpu-required workflows.

I've no need for touch or convertibility. But both seem decent for price
Yeah that seems like a decent buy! I didn’t really need touch either but wanted something 14” or below for portability. You do get more storage on the Asus which is not a bad thing but not a concern for me personally since this laptop will be a secondary machine to my desktop.

I've been waiting for such a deal. Took the 10% offer and all-in was $712.

I have been happy with my Dell products for a very long time and was happy not to have to switch brands to get a good deal.

How does this compare to the much more expensive XPS? Essentially, what would I be missing by buying this instead of a more premium laptop? The Inspiron seems to be lightweight, good build, arguably better specs (AMD instead of Intel)...
