Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 @ 3.20GHz is really not bad. Just the CPU would be around $300.

Pretty good deal. This was $389 back in July, so if you have a Delorean, you may want to go back in time and pick one up. It could also drop to around that price again in the future, but if you really need one right away, this isn't a bad price.

Anything good for a DIY NAS? I already got the hard drives but want to get one at home that doesn't use too much electricity...have plex and might use it one day but for now it is just for storage of photos, softwares/"linux ISOs" :)

Your wish is Dell's command: what looks to be the identical deal is back on. Offer Expires 30/12/2016 at 6 am ET.

Question: Would Dell experts here expect that to be the last sale for the T20 for possibly months? After all, we did appear to go from July until I started this thread without a comparable deal, at least that I saw.

Further information: It's not on special here or in the U.S., but I notice on the U.S. site that there's now a "new" PowerEdge model, the T30 Minitower. The CPU is now a v5 instead of a v3, and it comes with 8GB instead of 4GB. It's on the CA site too, but it's not available for sale yet online there (only phone). I chatted with Dell, and they told me that the T20 is slowly being phased out and should be EOL by the end of Jan.

I will mention that the 1225v3 doesn't have hyperthreading.... the price is really good though.

Do you think since these are going EOL they will come up cheaper in Jan?

It's anyone's guess, but that crossed my mind too.

It did hit $389 in July, so I would think that unless they've really done well in driving down inventory, there's a reasonable expectation that we'll hit that price one last time.

The other side of the coin is how expensive will the T30 remain before it sees any real sales. It could be a while.

The prices for the new CPUs really stacks up quick. Tried to spec out a T430, which started at 1.5K and spiked up to 5K no problem... I think I'll need to think a bit. Fortunately, the sales are extended until Jan 8th!

Top post updated to reflect new expiration date.

Oh, and for those who can order from Dell.com, their Cyber Monday deal for the same machine is $249USD:
http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/power ... eredge-t20
Super bummed about not pulling the trigger on this on the US side; I could have shipped it to my friend's place in NY state. $249 is an excellent price, if anyone knows where to still get it at this price I would appreciate a PM. This platform is being replaced by the T30 that has some minor upgrades, but the exact same form factor/size.

Now we have an idea of what the T30 sales will be like, as through the end of the month the Pentium G4400 (4GB RAM) variant is going for $469.07.

Is it good deal?I have concern with 4GB ram,I'd like to use it to host some web applications, hosting RTMP server as well and plan to install windows server 2012 and sql server 2012 on it.

Any advise?Thanks in advance.
