[Dell] Dell XPS 15 9560 - 4k Ultra HD, 512 SSD, 16GB Ram, etc - $1,886

Hi folks,

I'm not sure this is a white hot deal, but in my opinion it seems pretty good - so I pulled the trigger this laptop to replace my dying six-year old Toshiba Satellite.

Dell has a "4 Day Sale" until Thursday and are offering up to $800 off select computers and have their XPS 15 9360 i7-7700HQ 4K UHD model on sale for $2,200 - a $500 savings.

Through Ebates, I was able to get a further $150 off this price (coupon code $150OFF$1700PC) - making the price $2,050. https://www.ebates.ca/coupons/dell-consumer

Ebates have also upped their Dell cash back from 2% to 8%, resulting in a further $164 off for a grand total (according to my calculations) of $1,886 plus taxes - a savings of $814 or about 30%.

Naturally there are other computers on sale and the Ebates' coupons vary by how much you spend.

Enjoy!

NOTE: I also purchased the MS Office suite for $99 and sprung for the $30 finger print scanner so my calculations might be off by a dollar or two. All in for me, including 7% PST, 5% GST and my 8% Ebates cash back, I paid $2,267.27.

Yes I did!

Not really sure what on what I will use the gift card. Already have a mouse, laptop bag and an external hard drive.

Is this a 2-in-1 or convertible (foldable / stylus)? Can't seem to find the distinction on their website.

This model is not a 2-in-1 but it is a touch screen.

I think about coil whine issue.
I don't like new xps 13 9370,because no usb A port.
I read google, new xps 9370 have the coil whine issue too.
I have the XPS 13 8th gen with touch screen and honestly I don't notice any coil wine, the only time it gets noisy is when the fan needs to run on max, which only happens when you're doing very hardware intensive tasks. Other than that its been whisper quiet

Yikes, doesn't stack with 10% off student discount. I was able to get this laptop, 1080P screen for $1900 CAD all in (inc. GST, W10Pro) back in Nov.

Obviously, you are paying for the form factor. May be worth the wait for the new XPS 15 with Intel + Vega.

Anyways, here's a free 10% discount code. Comment below if you have used it.

Thanks OP. I've been using the 9530 version of this laptop (same exact config) for 3 years and it's been great to me. For a laptop this portable, it is truly a power house. At this price, I'm seriously considering an upgrade.

Thanks! I have not used the code, as I placed the order yesterday.

I decided to pop for the 4K screen as I tend to keep laptops for four or five years. I did think about holding off until Dell releases the latest and greatest model in a few months, but realized I need a new computer fast and the 7th gen Intel quad-core more than meets my needs not do I want a 2-in-1.

Most welcome!

After using it for 2 months now, I don't see why there is even a touch option

The computer is too big and heavy to be lugged around as a touch device.

The non -touch version is actually a sweet price at 1,649.99

4k is nice but not necessary in a 15 inch screen. Even if they were the same price I would go with the 1080p unless you are a creative professional that actually needs the color accuracy.

4k cons
- worse battery life
- glossy screen causes a lot of reflections
- more expensive
- scaling issues in windows

right, but.

-do you actually need 4k
-can't they make a 4k non-touch screen instead ?

my point is touch on this laptop is useless

Really nice deal,
I will never get 4K laptop again till Windows fixes scaling. My 4K experience is with ThinkPad P51. Some programs are so messed up by the 4K resolution, unuseable. Running the 4K display at 1080 looks awful for the premium price paid.

i go alienware 13 r3 for the same price 1900 before tax, same cpu, ram, ssd is toshiba SG5 same capacity as this one, gtx 1060 instead of 1050, and it's got the OLED display, brand new. this one is ok deal if it's gtx 1060.

in office i played with this one for a bit and the screen can't compare OLED. so shop around for alienware. much better. but these are all metal and similar built quality. touch screen is fun to use. just for fun factor.

4k at 15.6 is pretty hard to read without scaling. the alienware is not too small at 2560x1440 ,13.3 inch.

how heavy is this 15.6 inch xps? the alienware is really heavy for 13.3 inch. almost 6lbs, it's very small but must have a lot of metal inside.

Not everyone is a muscleking, some people want a light and thin PC without garish neon lights. :) The XPS is a little over 4 lbs with a tiny PSU. The AW13 has a 2 lb PSU. So travel weight is more like 9 lbs and it is 1.5" thick.

The XPS 9575 2in1 should be out soon, and it will have the new Kaby Lake G chips with integrated Vega. I'd hold off on a 9560 now.
