[Dell] HOT! Nest Protect Wired/Battery - $99.99

Update: Wired version appears to be sold out. Battery version still available.

Battery version is here (thanks @SiLiZiUMM): https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/accesso ... d/a9251547

This is a pretty hot deal for Nest Protect Wired or Battery versions. Near all time low!

Don't forget 8% ebates right now too.

Note: follow local fire codes when changing smoke detectors

I have 3 wired detectors in my house. 2 of them are brand new and the last one I need to replace soon.
If I replace the last one with the nest, will it send me an alert if any of the 3 detectors go off, since its wired?

No, even though it's wired there is no 3rd wire interconnect. It only communicates wirelessly with other Nest Protects.

Is this is the one where they found the microphone hidden inside?
Could HAVE, not could OF. What does 'could of' even mean?

This is a great price.

However, when I did my research 2 years ago, the life span for the Nest protect is very short.

I ended up buying this smart smoke alarm instead: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/kidde- ... 1000837077

It's cheaper, lasts longer, and works wonderfully.
2nd gen Nest Protects (which this is) have a lifespan of 10 years. I haven't seen any reviews of these things dying prematurely. Not sure why you think that?

Hmm..Looks like wired one is dead (that was quick). But battery version is still available.

It was 2 years ago (maybe more) their life span wasn't 10 years ago then... If it's longer now, then my biggest issue with them then is solved :)

Is it easy to install? I can replace with the existing socket for my smoke detector?
