Does anyone know if you can upgrade the ram in this to 16gb? Does it have dual ram slots?

You can message them on the website and give them your invoice number. They're usually pretty good with crediting you back shortly.

Thanks, do you know if they are shipping 2 x 4gb ram or 1 x 8gb sticks?

Nevermind, it is 1 x 8gb stick as per op!

Can you just buy any 2.5" SSD and plug it in? How hard is it to install?

any 2.5" SATA SSD will work.

You have to unscrew all the screws in the bottom, carefully pry open and remove the bottom panel. Unscrew the 2.5" harddrive cage, screw in the SSD drive, connect the power and SATA cable to the drive and the motherboard, and screw everything back in. It isn't the hardest thing if you have experience building a computer. But could be challenging if you have never done it. They also recommend unplugging the internal battery, but I didn't bother with that.

The dell support website has a link to the service manual where it will show you the steps to remove everything.

Also for those thinking of installing the Crucial 1 tb MX500 SSD, if you experience random shutdowns, you have to disable the "Link Power Management" from the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software.

As long as it shows in the recent shipping trip, ebates will add the cashback. That said, I got mine about an hour after placing the order

I've submitted my online application, which was approved by Dell, and according to their FAQ it should arrive within 28 days. However it's already been 2 weeks past 28 days and still nothing. Contacting Dell support is useless as they just tell you to wait another week every time.
I would say if it happens a third time threaten a chargeback.

Rewards are made available to redeem typically within 30- 35 days after your order invoices/ships. During peak seasonal periods, it can take up to an additional 5-10 business days or longer for rewards to be made available.
