Is it safe to assume that unidays doesn't work anymore?

Unidays code isn't working for me... but does anyone have experience with the Inspiron 14 3000 (for $249.99) or the 15 3000 ($359.99)?

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro but I need a Windows-based laptop for exams. I would only be using the laptop for about 4 hours every 2 months or so and wouldn't be installing anything other than Office and Chrome on it. It has to be reliable enough that it won't crash/freeze up during an exam (although I would only be using Word/Excel so wouldn't require too much power anyways). You guys think either of these two would fit the bill?

Just use Bootcamp. Why on earth would you buy another laptop just to use Windows?

Exam requires software called Surpass that locks the computer out of every application except the allowed ones (Word/Excel). This software specifically excludes MacBooks (even with Bootcamp), Surface Pro's and Surface Tablets.

Can this laptop be upgraded to 16gb ram or a larger SSD (say 512 GB)? 8 GB ram and 256 GB SSD seems on the low end of things.
SSD, okay fair enough, but what are you going to be using on your computer that requires more than 8 GB ram? If you aren't running a program that heavily relies on available ram, it's almost overkill to go higher than 8 GB. Even gaming doesn't require a whole lot of ram. If you're doing it just for bragging rights, it's a waste of money IMO.

That being said, looking at it physically, it looks like you can upgrade it. But don't quote me on it. Look up the specific model online, or get the model number and go to crucial.com and it'll tell you most likely.
Please do not PM me with requests for assistance, unless I PM you first, or if I give you permission to. That's what the forums are for!

Thanks for the suggestion. According to https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatib ... 000-series, 16 GB is the max ram and the SSD is SATA3 instead of M.2 PCI. For a 2019 Laptop, this is pretty old architecture as my 6 year old Asus is running SATA.

Just checking to see if anyone else have problems with dell. I paid with paypal and it's pending on my credit card but received an email saying that they need more information about it.

1 866 383 4713 ext: 4161361. Is this a Dell legit number?

Okay, I couldn't resist. Reading in this thread that Unidays (had never even heard of this before) could stack with the newsletter discount, I cancelled my previous order and did the whole thing again. Signed up for Unidays and registered to a student email address, and signed up for another newsletter coupon.

With the two stacking 10% coupons, that brings my price down to $668.16 after ON taxes, and $497.20 after VISA gift card and 12% EBATES. A difference of $45.66 or 8% over my previous purchase price.

Thanks again, all.

P.P.S. I cancelled my previous order via live chat, and they say it has to be sent to a case specialist to review. They'll confirm in the next 1-2 days, so I'm rolling the dice here that it will be cancelled. With an estimated ship date of August 30th on my previous order, I'm optimistic it will be cancelled.
Very impressed with Dell's customer service. Per my previous post, I had requested that my first order be cancelled; the rep through live chat told me he sent in the request on Friday and that I would hear back. Today I received a call that although the first order has shipped, they are requesting that it be "intercepted" and returned via the delivery company, and will provide me with a full refund. They also confirmed the second order is still on track to be shipped. I was expecting them to tell me "tough luck" regarding the first order, so this is a nice surprise.

Yeah I've been pleasantly surprised by the service. They've been clear, communicative, and have followed up to make sure everything is right.

I stopped buying Dell a while back and only noticed that their reputation had improved with the XPS 13... seems like the company may be turning things around.

*The only dicey thing is that my orders are not showing up on my account and so I have not been credited any Dell rewards. When I first ordered it was showing the $21 in rewards... that has now disappeared.

The system is shipped with a 256GB NVME PCIe M2. There is an additional 2.5" SATA3 slot

Max ram is 32GB
