Hopefully claim validation means do nothing and the digital card will be delivered via email when the laptop ships?
No, you have to go here to register and apply for the card. It took about four weeks to actually get my digital prepaid card on their last visa promotion. It took awhile.

Yes, you have to register for the VISA card - not sure why Dell does this and doesn't just do it automatically - maybe with hopes that some people don't register and save them some $$.

How does an i7 4770k hold up against this for gaming?
Very well, but why are you comparing a desktop cpu with a laptop? You can add any literally any gpu to your desktop, and this doesn't even come with a discrete gpu. This is a basic productivity laptop, not a gaming machine.

Wow. I guess I'm going to buy one. There's a lot of value in this deal.

Dell's page does state that the fingerprint reader is optional. Is it really optional? I don't see an option to add it. I really want it.
There wasn't an option when I ordered, and my order details shows that it comes with it: 346-BETX Silver Palmrest with Fingerprint Reader

Does anyone know what's Dell's return policy?
the website says we might have to be responsible for return shipping and 15% restocking fee.
Do they enforce this on unopened laptop return?

Not in my experience. I returned a laptop to them about three months ago and it was super simple. Got the shipping label and sent it off. I was NOT charged a restocking fee, I even asked on the live chat and they said there would be no fee charged. To clarify, I asked before I ordered the laptop AND when I was making the return, so I had an emailed transcript in case there was any funny business.

It took a month to get a refund though and I had to open a support ticket after two weeks because I didn't get an update even though I could see tracking it was delivered. So that was a little annoying, but that could just be a one off in regards to the return credit.

I don't think they charge that restocking fee unless it's on big corporate orders.

From what I gather, only items identified with "easy return", which isn't on this one, are eligible for return at full purchase price.

From their website: From time to time Dell may advertise an easy returns program that does not include an administration fee for Home and Home Office consumer customers, in which case, there will be no administrative fee in those instances.

They don't distinguish different return policies for opened or unopened items so they will probably enforce the restocking fee.

Last time I returned a Dell laptop the product page specifically indicated no fees easy returns so I was able to get everything cent back, even though the email receipt and corresponding return policy mentioned the restocking fees.

Edit: I just did an online chat and the rep confirmed no restocking fees "but to provide best customer satisfaction, we do offer 100% refund on the returns". So BUY BUY BUY!

Any good 2 in 1 deals at that price range? Would like to have the ability to take notes and draw some diagrams.
