Which laptop configuration do you currently see at Costco which beats a laptop with FullHD display, 8GB RAM, an NVMe HDD, and an 11th gen Intel processor, at a price point of $480 plus tax? I took a quick look through their site this morning, and I don't see anything comparable at a similar price point

This looks like a pretty good deal to me. If there's anything better, I'd be interested in seeing it.

Don't see this as a bad deal, not a hot deal either... Waiting for BTS deals in the coming weeks may net a better deal.

Sorry, not a hot deal.

https://store.hp.com/CanadaStore/Merch/ ... lang=en-CA

This one is not even on sale but Use $50 coupon, plus 8% rakuten and it comes out to $506 AND this has Twice the storage capacity at 256gb. 128 is crazy for a w10 laptop as windows itself will take like 30 GBs...

Either way, I think the point others are trying to make is that if you spend a bit more you can get a MUCH better laptop.

15.6" diagonal HD display kills it for me.

I was ready to buy this but the 10% newsletter code doesn't work with it.

Reasons NOT to buy this:
  • Intel 11th gen CPU (AMD will have better battery life)
  • Single RAM module that's not user accessible.
  • 1x1 WiFI (will cap out at 433Mbps on AC)
  • 128GB SSD is pitiful in 2021
  • 1 RJ45 - 10/100Mbps Ethernet port.... how much does a Realtek gigabit port even cost nowadays?
Pros;
  • You can upgrade the wifi card
  • you can buy a larger 2.5" SSD
  • you can buy a second memory dimm

For me, the Wifi and memory are the deal breakers. I'd be fine with 4x2GB or even 8+4 GB RAM.
1x8GB is just too much of a bottleneck.

I'm desperate for a cheap laptop, but I'm going to avoid this.

Just need to remove the base cover to access the memory slots
