I'll let you know, as one of the early buyers, I'll know soon enough.

I've already ordered a USB-C hub for my 43" 4K IPS TV Monitor.

Ram upgrades:

As suggested by redflagdealsguy to get 2666mhz dual rank 2x16gb sticks.
Found these 2666mhz for 184.99 on amazon but got the 3200mhz instead for $4 dollars more at 188.99.

Unless there are other ram deals please let us know.

Brings a tear to my eye, just beautiful.

Kind sir, I have one small request. Could you change the title to the following for index purposes? It makes searching for this thread much easier over the ensuing weeks, months, years.

Consider the following title:
Dell Inspiron 15" 5505 - Ryzen 4500U / 4700U - Tweaks, Upgrades, BIOS, Mods, Experiences

With Gratitude,

Super, thank you @cristianosham.

My ETA is theoretically July 21st, Tuesday then it must travel to my location from the other company address.

I imagine one week or so before I get my hands on it.

Will report back.

Hey guys,

Looks like mine is on the way (finally charged my credit card). Does anyone have a suggestion for a single 8gb stick to upgrade to a total of 16gb? I'm not totally opposed to buying a new matched dual channel set but I don't think I really need the performance, just looking for ram for chrome tabs and occasional photo editing / publisher etc. I'm assuming there isn't an 8gb that will operate as dual channel with the oem installed ram?

FYI:
aviador wrote: There's a reddit thread showing three solutions to the M.2 slot two missing mounting brackets: PSA: Inspiron 5505 comes with useless M.2 slot

* nagging Dell, so they'll sell you the OEM bracket and screw set for the M.2 slot two (not sure whether a heatsink cover is being used for the M.2 slot two - other Dell laptop models do: example)
* ghetto solution: glued standoff + screw (pictures from reddit thread)
* possible "compatible" part sold by the partspeople (here's a possible match for the bracket for the 2280) -- you could contact them and ask them directly. These laptop models are new and maybe their website is not up to date.

It seems that these parts might be included if requested when placing your order with Dell (for customized models. I doubt this option is available in Canada)

Picture of M.2 slot two without brackets.

IINM, the laptop discussed in this thread may be an Inspiron 15 5505 [too lazy to search the actual Canadian model and confirm/refute it]. If it's so, the parts for the M.2 slot two are shown in this page of the service manual -- funny: no heatsink cover! (there's a cover with a hole: bizarre)

A picture of how the brackets for the M.2 slot two look like (posted in Slickdeals)

Remove all the screws but 2 will stay in with the base, use old credit card and insert in rear between hinges, move around all of the base until everything is popped up. Push the base towards battery to release the ball/socket in the middle and off goes the cover.

So I received this, the 4700u, but I'm having an issue with weird screen glitching/interlacing. It's most noticeable over images and when scrolling. It only occurs in proper Windows, not in safe mode, not in any of the diagnostic screen tests outside of windows. Updated drivers, bios, everything. Reinstalled the OS while talking with support, the issue is still there. He's supposed to call me back now that I've done the latter.

I'm guessing nobody else is experiencing this?

EDIT: I can also get it to stop when disabling the AMD Radeon Graphics in Device manager.

EDIT2: after re-enabling the AMD graphics, the whole got really slow and froze.

EDIT 3: At first they said I could send it back to them, I said I'd rather have a refund, so then they offered to send me a new system and a box for the old one. I said "fine". He said 6 to 12 business days, possibly longer, can't track it online, need to call or email for updates. Really kind of regretting buying this at this point. I haven't owned a Dell in like 20 years...maybe this is why?

how is the screen on this laptop. I got the HP envy from costco but really thinking of returning it due to the bad screen? is the dell any better?
