[Dell] Inspiron 15 AMD $630 1080 IPS, 256 SSD, 2x4GB ram, backlit Eng KBD

Best deal Ive seen this weekend in the 600 bracket. My deal breakers were:
1080 IPS
SSD
Backlit English keyboard

The cons I was able to overlook:
100mbs ethernet (wtf?)
dim screen
slower wireless

This laptop has faster graphics than intel 620, multi-threads close to an i7. Apparently mostly quiet, no screen flicker dimming and even a USB C. I need the 15 inches for my poor eye sight. There appears to be a bay for an additional hard drive, all parts are easy to access and of course the Dell online support documentation is the best there is.

This review is very similar to this unit, one step up in processor:

Too bad for the dim display. Otherwise very tempting.

i hate it when they give new names to video graphics cards but it's still a crappy one.

I recently paid $729 for the Ryzen 7 3700U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD version and I'm mostly okay with it. My only gripe with it so far is how the fan curve is, where it goes from basically 0 to 100 for a few seconds at a time before turning off. It happens seemingly randomly and it always happens upon startup. Not sure if it's just my unit or if it's a common thing. Also it took around 2 weeks for the order to arrive from ordering to finish.

I ordered the FX505DT-UB52 from Microsoft with student discount but they're giving me such a hard time about the shipping. They still haven't even shipped it. It's been about a week now.

I would have cancelled my order and jumped on this Laptop if the Vega 8 was at least on par or a bit Below the 1050 at least..

Bummer..

That ethernet is bizarre in this day and age... I wonder if it's a chipset bandwidth restriction? That said.... USB 3 ethernet dongles aren't stupidly expensive if you want full GB ethernet.

Yes, I was looking at that one as well. MS store also had a Dell G3 with the 1650 2 weeks ago for 750- its way more understated than normal gaming laptops. I dont game that much (World of Tanks/Warships) and sometimes I need to use my laptop professionally and it cant scream gamer onsite.

This 5585 hits all my marks without a huge investment and can play Tanks easily plus a few of my older Steam games Ive never gotten around to playing. I'll save anything hardcore for my desktop.

Right, I guess that I got that backwards?
Im done with laptops with a 15 degree vertical viewing angle, unlit keyboards and spin hard drives.
