I bought an Optiplex 3010 from CL for $160. It still had warranty until august of this year.

I would go with a thinkpad from refurb.io instead. Better built than a dell imho

Their regular prices are terrible... You can buy the following directly from Dell:

OptiPlex 3020 Small Form Factor: i5-4590 Processor, 4G (1x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Memory, 500GB 3.5inch SATA (7.200 RPM) Hard Drive, Win 7 Pro, 3 Year Hardware Service with Onsite Service: $689

OptiPlex 5040 Mini Tower: i5-6500 Processor, 8GB (2x4G) 1600MHz DDR3L Memory, 3.5 inch 500GB 7200rpm Hard Disk Drive, Win 7 Pro, 8x DVD+/-RW 9.5mm Optical Disk Drive, 3 Years Hardware Service with Onsite/In-Home Service: $899

wow, I really cut it close yesterday, as I've been constantly looking to use my old 40% off discount for a return, but these constant sales keep depleting stock and my "watch list" units always get sold.

not so this time, and I managed to snag another one-of-a-kind laptop with everything I was looking for that *just* went on hot deal sale:

E6430 "B"
i7-2.9 GHz
1600x900
8GB memory
NVIDIA NVS 5200
128GB SSD
backlit keyboard
wireless n/DVDRW/etc.

$292 + tax

the best part about this is it has no immediate upgrade cost, no need to add an extra 4GB or 8GB (if it's 2x2GB) of memory, no need to buy an SSD (I will eventually swap out a 256GB samsung 850 evo from an older laptop and give it the 128gb dell), no need to buy a backlit keyboard (these are a worthwhile upgrade, i.e. better quality overall). my last dell e5420 was cheaper ($187 + tax) but I still needed to add an an extra 4gb of memory ($35) and a 240gb ocz ssd ($80), so it was actually *more* expensive than this one.

I better knock on wood that it works now.

Question...is it safe to assume that any laptops listed with an 128GB means that it's an SSD and anything else is just a regular 5400 rpm HDD?

according to john, yep.

he can correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember "128 and 256GB are SSDs, all others are HDs".

Anyone have any idea how often stock gets refreshed? Seems like a good deal if you can find a laptop that meets your requirements.

Screen 14 or higher is fine, 1080 resolution, not gonna store anything bon it, just documents but an ssd for a fast boot up would great.
Honestly,I just want something to do some work nothing serious

I have good experience with their E6230 and E5420 Grade B
Minimal marks on the bottom
Screen and keyboard are perfectly functional and cosmetically good
