Dell OptiPlex 7020 SFF i5-4690, 500 GB HDD, 4GB RAM, $112

Deal Link:
Price:
112.56
Retailer:
Dell Refurbished
Use code 'BLACKFRIDAY' to drop the price from $168 to $112.56. Decent setup, would probably require an SSD and another 4GB of RAM, which is another $50 or so. Thoughts on its longevity?

Edit: code no longer working

Should work reliably for years if specs are matching your expectations.

FYI this is an EXCELLENT computer for Hackintosh, making roughly equivalent to an 2015 iMac. All the best!

SSD and another 4-8GB would make this run a lot better. Both can be had for under $50 these days.
Does this support adding another 4GB?

Yes, it's free. You basically just download the installer and install it over the existing OS or on a clean drive.

It's a good deal.

Dell OptiPlex workstations are reliable and a great value if you can get them at discount off-lease. I bought for a parent an Optiplex 790 USFF in 2016 from Dell Refurbished. The production date of the unit is from 2012, and it's still running like champ with daily use. Add more ram and a budget SSD and you're golden.

Want to upgrade my dad's current old lenovo laptop since his can't connect to a nicer monitor due to a horrible graphics card. Can this one support a good dell monitor?

I have 2x9020s Towers, upgraded to 16gb and a gtx 1650, and they are pretty impressive for budget school/gaming PCs for kids. This is very similar specs. Price is great.

In terms of a caddy, I got these for mine:

3.5" to 2 x 2.5" Drive - you may need a sata power splitter cable also

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00GMGZBP0

If you want to maximize your drive count even further, you can replace the optical with another 2.5" drive with this:

Would this make a decent home server? Looking for a low power consumption PC to run 24/7 and use it as a Plex server, and eventually expand to security camera DVR, home automation, NAS, etc.

Hmm, it says the code BLACKFRIDAY can only be used for regularly price items: "Black Friday coupon valid for regularly priced items only, excludes Hot Deals"
