[Dell] Dell Studio XPS with Core i7 price drop!

The configuration with i7 920, 6GB tri-channel DDR3 memory, 1TB raid 0 (or 500GB raid 1), ATI 3650 256MB graphic card, DVDRW and S2309W is now $1320. upgrade to S2409W for $1370.

The same configuration with S2409W was $1399 until yesterday, and for the price, the specification is impressive!

you can get non-monitor for 999.

and you can also get good monitor for <400, especially with dods going on/boxing coming up.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can remove the monitor from that packaged deal. If you go for the 999 option, then you don't get the 2x 500gb RAID and you lose 3gb in memory.

The packaged deal seems better considering you're also including a monitor as well as the aforementioned.

EDIT: You also get a Radeon 3650 instead of a 3450 going for the package.

The $999 only has 3GB of memory, it's $1199 with 6GB of memory and no monitor.

This system definitely has $320 worth of value over the base $999 config.

As already mentioned, the 3GB DDR 3 RAM, extra 500GB hard drive, the monitor, but it also has a Radeon HD 3650 instead of a 3450.

Tough to beat if you want a full i7 system including monitor.

~edit and I was beaten to it :) .

good deal BUT, look at i7 920 compared to core 2 duo e8600

IMO i7 isn't worth the price premium on the memory and the motherboard. Other benchmarks show that even the best video cards are holding back high end cpus, so if you game, you're better off getting a core 2 duo and spending the money you just saved on a higher end video card

also, slow hard drives lower your minimum framerate and contribute to skippy gameplay and slower application usage, so consider spending the extra money on a faster storage solution too

looks like they fixed it. also to note, it comes with a surround sound speaker system so it would have been an even better deal. for ~400 you were getting 6GB ram vs 3, 1TB hd vs 500, better vid card, a monitor, and speakers ... too bad

The price is $1274 if you remove the speakers. So, for $275 more you get 3GB more RAM, S2309W monitor, 2x500GB RAID instead of 1x500GB, and a Radeon 3650 instead of 3450.

Sounds like a sweet deal to me. Really close to buying this myself, but that motherboard is so offputting.

Is this SLI-able? I have been given two 9800GTX+'s as B-day present and haven't been able to put them to use yet.

Hmmm i don't know if its a great deal. It now won't let us remove the G51; seems like Dell is tinkering with the system as we are looking at it. I feel its getting a bit pricey, but only b/c i wouldn't need the speakers and forced bundling with monitors is not very appealing since there were cheap 23' just yesterday on DDoD. But i think its a good price if you needed the WHOLE set to replace your old one.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is from an XPS 420 and a XPS 630 beside the case (which looks way different/better)? Is there a motherboard difference as well??
